The 1920's was a golden age for boxing & that was only a few years after WW1

Football (soccer to some) as the world's biggest sport obviously also takes away a lot of talent.. especially in some countries..

Okay everyone, we can officially call off the suicide watch on Gained . . . the crazy ******* has resurfaced. :nutcaseHowever, I see he is still on the brink of insanity . . . he thinks kids do not get pushed through the system if they show any athletic ability and see early on what organized sports can offer them over the alternatives like Boxing. That any working class kid of size is asked if they play ball and if not they are told they should. So all those athletic Super Heavyweights you guys always talk about are streamed into the sport starting as early as they can go to school. Of course they would not show any boxing skill because they never put on a pair of gloves.

The average height in the NBA is 6'7 and the weight on average about 225. It seems that the Bros have the size to be couple of small forwards in the NBA . . . how great would they do if you put them on a basketball court? If they grew up in the states they would have been streamed in that direction from birth.:deal

Who in the hell is "Larry Byrd"?

Not that the thread had any merit to begin with, but for Christ's sake, learn how to spell a Hall of Famer's name if you are going to use it.

The Klitlickers have lost another debate! not only have the forces of ******ation been soundly defeated, we witnessed one of it's mightiest crack under the pressure and have a nervous breakdown right before our eyes. The fans in Klitland or planet klit are slowly starting to have their world and take on reality cave in on them! Hopefully they will exile themselves to the Euroboards or better yet another website all together. So long you crazy racist *******s!

Unfortunately, Klit-tards stupidity is only matched by their ability to delude themselves.

I am not a born fighter like my brother Vitali.

    - Wladimir Klitschko

This also goes out to Nosbor with his "fighters are born not financed" quote. Incredibly ironic considering he's defending a Klitschko fan perspective.

Exactly, that piece just disparaged an entire race of people while calling them racist!! You know he doesn't see the irony in this and there isn't any use debating this with someone like this.

Guys like him made good nazis, soviets, followers of Pol Pot, KKK etc.... Whatever group is on the outs, people like him joined the lynch mob so they could feel righteous.

I do sort of agree with him because he is partially correct. And so are you. But there is more to it. Boxing in the US isn't as dominant for so many reasons.

    1) It was the premier sport (along with baseball) from the 20s through to the mid 1960s. After that, boxing fell out of favor with a majority of the American public. No longer kids went to boxing teams and turned to soccer, basketball, etc... They also had many many more economic opportunities outside of sports. Why abuse your body for a small chance of hitting it big?

    2) Americans just are not as tough as they once were. White boys started to become feminized in the 60s. Black boys followed 15-20 years later. An average American Black kid of the 70s was a better all around athlete than today's. Same goes for a pre-60s white kid vs. a white kid today. We are raising a bunch of feminized kids. Boys who don't act like girls in school are constantly in trouble.

    3) The rest of the world is hungrier and has the opportunity and is taking the prize from us. This goes from sports to banking to manufacturing.

    4) There are too many more reasons to list
