I think you could say the 1st 4/5 rounds were Hopkins fight.... after that Calzaghe "dominated" his style without making any real impact... Hopkins was mainly grabbing after 6 and was clearly not throwing much back. He even feigned a low blow... So it could hardly be said he had ring genralship especially when Calzaghe was treating him like the former inmate he was

    hopkins is a great fighter.

    top 50 of all time.

he lost to the 2 best he fought though.

    jones and calzaghe.

and got his tactics wrong in both fights with taylor.

but that aside has been largely excellent.

the de la hoya win doesn't rank very highly with me.

    oscar was never a middleweight.

the sturm fight proved that. :patsch

i don't think any opponent of B-hop is going to look good, even in victory. B-hop is a defensive master...he has found a way to either beat you or lose in a close, but ugly, fight.

It's amazing how he went from being the middleweight version of John Ruiz to Marvelous Marvin Hagler in one night!! That's how hot and cold everyone is on this forum...it's disgraceful!!

You have some serious issues man!!!!! He didnt hit hops until the 9th so how does he win the fight. Run around the ring and flail his arms like a gurl. It might work for you but not for real unbiased boxing fans like me and a several others. Hops won the fight fairly easy cause calzaghe couldnt hit him thats just the truth.

A beautiful hook to the glove, and another and yet another.

You do have to remember folks he's got a granit glove so he can really take a punch.

I've seen lots of US fights graded like that, and in the US jabs are not counted by many fans, where is in Europe a landed jab counts much more than a beautiful hook to the glove for some odd reason.

That is why many Americans think thier man was robbed when he goes to Europe...Euro's jsut don't count aggression enough....as if missing counts.
    How very, very odd....
Was or was that not just one beautiful hook to the glove?

And that was a very fine fair article.

Actually, Pacfan84 is one of the best posters in the general board. He knows his stuff and has common sense, both isn´t that common in this part of the board. You prove that in this thread time and again.

I thought he won 6, add the KD and he won the fight. But like I said quite a few times, fights which are as close as this deserve no winner.

pac posts nothing other than statistics, resumes, articles etc the guy has about as much objectivity as a communist and his originality is sparse to say the least,he doesnt think for himself he has wikipedia and boxrec to enhance his creativity,he should get a job at ring magazine as toilet attendant.

judge: Ted Gimza 112-115 | Could accept but think it then more 113-114

judge: Adalaide Byrd 114-113 | about right

judge: Chuck Giampa 111-116 ~Blind as a bat.

It was a dammed tight fight IMO, not very good, but tight.

You have to remember, most folks see what they want to see, even me from time to time.....like for years and decades I saw Norton win that last round...it took some 5 or 6 times and slow motion for me to give that round to Ali.

What is the best fight to watch...Two fighters you have no set predjudices against or for. You see what is real and not through rose colored glasses.

My little friend that is how you rate fighters. By resume and accomplishments, everything else is second to that. That post just shows that you don´t know much.
