Indeed, he was terrific against Ali, Young, and Holmes. Again we're not neccesarily talking skills in this thread, we'ew talking about guys who put butts in seats.
For that matter Butterbean should be here the KING of the 4 Rounders. He was also in a WrestleMania where he nearly decapitated Bart Gunn.
You just said he was "great" lol. I would say that he was not a great talent. But he was a great fighter because of the intangibles he possessed. Many compare him to Gatti, but I think he was a bit more talented than Gatti and beat a higher quality of opposition.
Maybe I"m confused on the thread .. on skills Norton was world class .. popularity not the draw of most of the rest but if we look at 90% of the men posted they have something obvious in common .
Henry Cooper.decent fighter but had a almost god like following when I was a kid .seemed a good guy but had huge following mainly with non boxing public .
I think he was a solid level above Quarry .. Graziano was a joke all together ... the Gatti of his day. Look at his record of who he fought .. one victory over Zale defines his whole career ..
Tony Zale, Rocky Graziano, Gaspar Ortega, Little Red Lopez, Jose Stable, Charley Scott, Matthew Saad Muhammad, Ray Mancini, Bobby Chacon, Bert Cooper, Micky Ward, Arturo Gatti, Israel Vazquez, Orlando Salido
