I don't know from where this dude gets this stuff. Anyway really interesting video where george answers stuff that would be asked in places like this for many years

Great find. Interesting that he thought Louis as the one closest to himself.

I thought that too but tbh when he's dropping combinations imo there is a likeness

It's a better comparison than the Ali one that the interviewer suggested

And the jab was not too dissimilar either. When the interviewer asked the question I actually thought he'd answer Louis, as he did.

He may as well have been Nostradamus on this one, even if he understated it a touch. Supreme confidence and foresight tempered with a calm and thoughtful delivery.

This is gold, thanks so much for sharing.

It’s questionable as to whether Foreman reinvented himself as opposed to simply dropping the Liston-like veneer to later fully reveal who the true George was all along.

He could often be thoughtful and articulate without any arrogant edge. The media simply accented more on his mean, scowling persona (in part act?).

During the Chuvalo fight Foreman’s jab was already being compared to that of Joe Louis’ - and with fair justification. That jab was a WMD all on its own.

I can never get enough of Foreman jabbing the bag - I’d never seen this particular moment before.

Saddler never looked comfortable holding the bag for George - I can’t blame
    him.

Unless it was illusory, interesting to also see Foreman carrying a bit of extra weight while sparring.

I love raw, unedited footage - you lose too much important material when some “artist” gets their hands on it, chops it up and packages it into not so entraining and same ol’ same ol’ presentation.

Good lord no, sloppy, windmill swinging zombie armed George Foreman has zero likeness to Louis swinging his fists lol @Pat M you called this ages ago haha that the forum version of Foreman throws blazing combinations uses a sharp jab etc lol.

Sometimes he did go berserk (wich would not be fund to be at the end of), but if you watch the frazier fight he basically worked of a stiff jab that set up uppercuts and right hands. Like Joe Louis

Simply put no, no disrespect but it’d be a disrespect to Louis to say otherwise.

I reckon it's more of a matter of stoppages, ring-cutting, generalship, and being a great finisher. Body mechanics were different, but there was clearly enough to draw comparison, because Ali said in his post-Zaire rant: 'you called him a bad Joe Louis.'

Not sure if it's the original, or movie reenactment.

George admired Louis greatly, so it's no wonder he liked to see in himself certain similarities. They both definitely liked to actively defend with their rear hand.
