Gennady Golovkin W Javier Alberto Mamani TKO 1 Considering the opponent was fighting eliminators 3 years ago and hadnt been stopped in 6 years. Anyone see it?
Yes. Very impressive win by Golovkin. After 2 minutes of mid-pace action Golovkin caught Mamani, who went 12 with Felix Sturm, with a big right hand and unloaded a dozen shots which forced Mamani take a knee and turn away. Although he was hurt, the ref immidiately waved it off, which looked a bit strange, as he didn't bother to count and Mamani was back up shortly, but never complained about the stoppage. Golovkin needs to keep fight regularly and face better competition, step by step. As Alexeev's shocking upset showed, lack of expericence could lead to disasters, so no need to rush it, Mamani was a step-up anyway, and Golovkin made this task look fairly easy.
