It might not count for us, but it did for him. He went through the training camp and that took around 2-3 months?. If he does seriously plan to fight Brook then watch him ditch the August/September fight and just go for Brook in December. I could promise you that he won't fight 3 times this year or any year for that matter. Khan is 110% money now, he could care less about legacy because he already went for it and we all know what he has to offer, there's nothing to hide or hype anymore. There's no way he would take on Brook only 3.5 months after fighting whoever in August/September. That's 3 training camps, one intense(for Brook), in 1 year for someone that is clearly only in it for the money.
Wouldn't it be preferable, from Amir's perspective, to have another easy tuneup first, rather than effectively have only had 39 seconds of "live" competition in 2½ years since he fought Canelo? I'd have to imagine rust would be the greater of two evils, rather than being "overworked".
It's definitely the right move for someone serious that has something to prove. Amir isn't exactly serious anymore, nor does he have the mentality of someone with a lot to prove. He already proved what he's worth in there numerous times, so there's nothing to cover up. They will approach this fight as a great payday with all serious factors(inactivity, rust...etc) completely ignored because the payday is the primary goal. Even if he gets sparked, he will go inactive for a while only to return with the same strategy all over again. He can afford to do so because he sells. This is just my prediction after observing Amir for as long as I did. For the sake of Boxing, I hope I'm wrong and this fight + the tune-up happen this year.
It'll count about as much as Kovalev's destruction of Shabranskyy, which is, not much. The result of that match did nothing to adequately prepare the Krusher for anything other than crushing another glass jawed come forward plodder, not a technically gifted operator like Bivol or Gvozdyk. Brook would do the same thing to Lo Greco, in fact he did the same thing to Rabchenko a few months before, which also amounted to nothing but a confidence booster. It doesn't change the fact that Khan will not KO1 Brook, or the fact that Brook will systematically time and counter the hell out of Khan until his chin eventually gives out, which probably won't take very long.
There was press last month that Price has a fight at the Macron (Bolton Wanderers' stadium) on July 27th. Khan would be headlining if this is the case, but things seem to have gone quiet. Brook by KO when they meet.
I think this fight is a 50/50 fight to be honest. If this happened prior to Brook's injury, I'd lean more towards Brook. It's an Amir Khan fight though, so anything is possible.
This is definitely NOT a toss-up fight, I'm sorry. Brook is insanely accurate and hits like a mule. People may be looking into the Lo Greco fight too much, Khan has always and always will be the same guy we've seen year in and year out. A Zab Judah type Freakishly fast but a front runner...Loses concentration a few rounds in and then starts taking hurtful punches. He'll take one to the chin and the end will be near. Let's not forget Brook has a really good chin, paper eyes though but still. Khan is really good vs Southpaws, but Brook is not one unfortunately. The left hook and right hand always seem to get Khan, and Brook is damn good at utilizing those punches. Probably KO6 or something .
I'm surprised to see so many think Brook will win via KO, who's the best fighter he's stopped? Senchenko? I think it will come down to who's the best boxer and who's quicker. If Khan has good stamina for the fight I think he'll outbox Brook to a UD victory.
Ends one way Khan brutally ktfo anyone thinking or saying otherwise Needs to get their head checked There's no prime in the fight No legacy in the fight No meaning to this fight anymore No relevance Just a will you give me some free money for a foregone conclusion Keep it i ain't interested ain't viewing and ain't parting with a penny for it This content is protected
Brook by brutal YGKTFO type highlight reel KO. It wont go 6 rounds and you will be surprised at how easy Brook makes it look.
