Just rewatched Sellers vs Carl Thompson and Alex Stewart, and God what a puncher! Truly one of those rare guys who could turn a fight around on a dime with a single shot; his one punch knockdowns of the teak-tough Carl Thompson were freakish, especially considering Thompson would just a few years later go on to beat the young David Haye after withstanding all that Haye could throw at him. He really destroyed Thompson and was on the verge of stopping Stewart as well, till his iffy chin let him down. Strangely, he seemed most dangerous when hurt and most vulnerable when he'd just scrambled your brains. Made his fights real roller coaster affairs. I watched the Stewart and Thompson fights last night, and I gotta say I agree. God-given, natural puncher. Some of those shots didn't even look all that hard, yet the effects on the opponent was pretty devastating. If he had a chin to go with that power he would have been a hell of a frightening fighter.
I agree with the TS statement that Sellers was the hardest hitting cruiserweight. Freakishly heavy handed.
Kudryashov could give him a run for his money, but he still has a way to go to equal Sellers. Kudryashov's power is frightening. Sellers's power was unreal.
I remember reading that Sellers cut Ike Ibeabuchi in a sparring session. Later when they were both in the locker room, Ike saw Ezra wearing a wedding band and thought that was the reason he got cut. He attacked Sellers and dislocated his knee. One of a long list of crazy things that eventually led to Ibeabuchi's imprisionment.
