From December of 1944 to May of 1951, Ezzard Charles fought 42 bouts and won 41 of them including 8 world heavyweight title fight wins... His only defeat during this time was a decision to slugger Elmer Ray which most deemed a robbery and was taken care of by Charles in a later rematch. The streak ended when he was Ko’d by Joe Walcott in the summer of 1951 in the 3rd of 4 meetings. Prior to that Some of his victories during the streak included :
    Archie Moore x3
    Jimmy Bivens x3
    Joey Maxim x2
    Joe Walcott x2
    Joe Louis
    Elmer Ray
    Gus Lesnevich

There were other names but not sure if they were highly ranked or how well they were regarded. I’m sure others on the forum can add more insight than I can on the subject. Needless to say though, this was one of the most insanely good winning streaks of all time. Charles is rightfully top 3 at light heavyweight, possibly top 10-15 at heavyweight and an easy top 5 p4p.
