It's Pat Valentino. Joe Louis knocked Valentino out the same year in a freaking exhibition. It's like going crazy about Ali stopping Jean Pierre Coopman.

The irony, coming from a Wilder fanboy.

Any time you guys have no response to a very honest comment I make, it's "What About Wilder?"

Someone brags about what an incredible boxer Charles is and posts a highlight reel of Charles just throwing one wide hook after another ... or a combination of wide hooks ... and I point that out, because it's true ... so you try to change the topic to Deontay Wilder?

Just another case of "What About-ism" ...

    What?

If all you have to offer a boxing forum is "who's on your pound-for-pound list" ... you don't have much to offer.

Is there anyone at 175 who has a better resume?

Let’s not call it a pound for pound list …just name the best 100 boxers in the history of the sport …just like they do in any other sport

I imagine so. What's Ezzard's record at light heavyweight, like 28-3-1?

Charles was stopped by Lloyd Marshall. Charles lost and drew with former middleweight champ Ken Overlin. Charles lost to Bivins. Charles was the #1 contender at 175 for about a year and a half. And Charles beat one former 175 champ (Christoforidis) and beat two guys who'd win the light heavy title years later, but they hadn't won anything yet when he fought them.

Is that the greatest light heavyweight resume ever?

There have been a lot of great light heavyweights who actually won the title at the weight, actually defended the title (some managed to defend it many, many times) and put together a better record than 28-3-1 at 175, hasn't there?

Naming the 100 best anything has no interest to me.

Who gives a **** who I think are the 100 best or who you think are the 100 best?

Making lists is boring. I like to talk about fights and fighters. What's coming up. What happened in the past. Not make lists.

Ezzard Charles was great for a period of time. He was probably underrated when he was fighting, and he's probably/certainly overrated now.

There have been a lot of great fighters at every weight class. Many of them were considered the best in their era for a longer period of time, accomplished more and they didn't all lose 25 times (to many opponents who were pretty crappy fighters).

But people who make pound-for-pound lists like to ignore bad losses (even bad decades) for some guys and bash others for a few losses (or no losses at all).

if I’m not mistaken …the reason he couldn’t get a title shot …is because of the color line
