Charles in a P4P sense but no one ever cleared out a division like Ali I'm pretty sure he is the only fighter in history to have been voted best fighter of a division in two different decades. He also at some point beat nine of the top ten fighters ranked in ring magazine 1963 edition and everyone in the top 10 a decade later in the 1973 edition
I agree. Ali is the heavyweight GOAT, and he is the heavyweight GOAT because no heavyweight has a resume like his. Not even close. But Charles was a transcendant fighter in terms of accomplishment. He fought great fighters at different weights, over a longer elite career. Both have amazing resumes, but I'd give Charles the overall edge based on what he achieved over the balance of his entire career. At heavyweight, and heavyweight alone, Ali's is superior, and by some distance.
