Ezzard Charles sparring with Sonny Liston?

I imagine he did school him. It would have been when Liston was an amateur or novice, I assume. Charles being the employer.

 

It was around new year 1954. Charles was preparing to fight Bob Satterfield. Liston was just 3-0 as a professional.

Charles weighed 189 on January 13th
Liston weighed 201 on January 25th

Knowing what we know about each fighter, I'd say the difference could have been a bit wider.

 

I did read that Liston was a sparring partner for Charles at one point. Ezzard Charles and George Foreman connected through Sonny Liston. What are the odds??

 

Liston in his very early career weighed 200 pounds but his frame was much bigger than ezzard's

 

Foreman was a close friend of sonny, both them were mother****ers on the ring so it was not rare their friendship
