IMO Saunders blasts out Charles early but I would like to know if anyone sees Charles taking it on the cards.
I’d pick Charles to out class him. Always thought Sanders was a waste of talent. Could have been really good. Charles by UD
I watched a few fights of Corrie Sanders and Ezzard Charles this evening before I answered. Charles’ style was like that of Evander Holyfield. He bounced, slipped and rolled but was also there to be hit because he punched with his opponent and stayed in close range for hooks. He was in the action. I view Corrie Sanders style as almost like an older Louis in his stalking and looking. The difference is that Sanders stands straight up with his hands low especially when punching whereas Joe was leaning in a proper boxing stance. Sanders does not throw precision short tight punches like Joe. What he does throw is throws snappy straight left hands and good jab but everything else is loopy. Charles’ styles like Holyfield with all of the punches and he is also like Holyfield that he does not jab all that much. He circles close and stays busy with combinations. Sanders defense is his offense. When his offense is blunted he is helpless. He basically looks for one shot counters and that is it. No boxing, no movement. He looks for the homerun. Because he has quick heavy hands the chance is always there. Some here have suggested Sanders blows Charles out early. I have to disagree. Charles has faced too many cagey skilled and powerful punchers to be KOed early by a limited fighter like Sanders. Of course he can be caught but that does jive with Charles record. I see the fight essentially like Louis-Charles pace wise and Charles outpoints Sanders over the distance. Charles has enough ring awareness to evade Sanders’ early big shots and enough skill and power to land consistently to win over the distance.
Charles would survive the early storm and Corrie would gas after 4 rounds and at that point start to ripen for the beatdown RSC by the 8th -9th round
I am always a bit wary of picking Sanders in fights like this, because he really only has one good win.
