    I'll go with Charles.
I can't think of a champion I'd pick Patterson to beat. Leon Spinks? Maybe- not sure.

There are plenty of people who believe that Ezzard Charles was the best L / Heavy who ever lived ( Ali being one of them ) I would not dare to disagree with those folks. So on that basis I'd have to go with Charles against Patterson at Heavy.

I have a lot of respect for Floyd but Ezz was a great experienced fighter and I go with him to win

I like Patterson by >10th stoppage, maybe having been down on the cards.

While I don't see Charles finishing Patterson in 6rds, the rest of that post is an excellent appraisal.
The fact that you denigrate it just confirms that !:good

Floyd would have been too lively in this one, replicating Walcott's left hook title win with one of his own. It would have been a great fight featuring two of the most pleasing styles seen in the heavyweights.

Hmmm, how about Ingemar 2 out of 3? Tommy Burns, Marvin Hart, Leon Spinks, are pretty much givens with most boxing fans.

That's one of the most ludicrously false statements I've ever heard :patsch

Ezzard Charles had amazing footwork as is and when he started moving it was almost comparable to ballroom dancing. Idk what Ezzard Charles fights you watched but that's just...uuhhh :nono

Not a great clash of styles imo. I much rather watch Wallcot vs Patterson

    Tremendous fight. Great Match

The speed of Patterson will play its part. EZ-C will be countering and moving well enough to keep this fight entertaining. I Think Patterson would be in danger of going down a few times or being Koed. I am almost 100% positive he sees the canvas at least once.

But overall, Patterson has the skill to survive ,and the speed and combinations to eek out a majority decision. .... I would never bet money on it.

I think this would be a great match,...a closely contested match all the way. I have the highest regard for Patterson both as a man and as a fighter, but I believe that Charles was somewhat better rounded in terms of skills...and Ez's title reign was more substantial as well. Floyd, of course, had the advantage in hand speed, as he would have, IMHO, with anybody.
I think we'd see a really good bout here, with Charles edging out Patterson over 15...a considerably superior version of Ellis-Patterson, in that Floyd would distinguish himself by fighting a gallant, determined fight against a man who was decidedly superior to Jimmy Ellis, but Floyd would turn in a very spirited effort nonetheless. It's likely that both men would have tasted the canvas, but they would be flash knockdowns with nothing near a ko occuring.
I think Patterson's effort would have even impressed BillB.

If I said Patterson before, I now have to go with Ezzard Charles

Floyd was so flatfooted and in comparison to actual movement its not even close
Ezzard had the power to put someone with whiskers like Patterson away..without trying much either
Or he could counter him to a UD
Floyd would have his moments but ultimately Ezzard Charles wins
