its a no brainer as far as i'm concerned. Ezz all the way.Better foot work ,stronger chin, although I do admit Johansson could have felled a tree, have you ever seen him ko Machen. it looked like the ref was prepared to let it go to the death. In terms of alltime ranking there is just no comparison

Charles was the better fighter both legacy and probably head to head when being sized up to the rest of the field... Against each other however? Not so simple. Ez' was one of the few opponents who wouldn't have a size advantage over Floyd, and a young prime Patterson might be a different sort of test than aging versions of Louis and Walcott. Floyd wasn't a collosal puncher either.. But he could crack when he had to. And his punches would mean a lot more to a smaller man than they would to someone like Ali or Liston.

Floyd could have NEVER stayed at 175! He was the ultimate 'tweeny'. 188-192 in prime.

I actually favour Patterson in this fight of two of mu favourites. His speed, power(yes) and bobbing, weaving style to upset Ez's rhythm but a great fight.

Great match up. See it being close, I actually see a trio of fights.
Charles gets the first by mid fight ko.
Floyd stop s him late second.
Third fight actually turn s ih to the best, both going down but Patterson getting a decision.
