Ezzard would beat both their overrated asses. Not in the same class.

At lightheavy Ezzard Charles was head and shoulders above either man...he would have stopped them both...yes cleanly STOPPED either one.

We have a tendency to over value the abilities of the boxers we see and love, but comparing these two to Ezzard Charles is a little too much. Of course some extrapolation to lhw should be done, but he beats them both at any weight.

S, you took the words out of my mouth. Ezzard fought and beat many superior fighters than they !
Would 46 year old Hopkins be champion today, with the likes of Archie Moore, Jimmy Bivins, lloyd marshall, joey maxim, all in their primes fighting today ? Case closed...:good

No MW/LHW could ever seriously beat James Toney.
    Maybe except of Marciano .

Marciano never weighed in under the LHW limit.

Charles still whips the **** out of Toney, on a good or bad day.

Toney and Hopkins are not in the same class as Charles. That is not a bold statement nor one any serious student of the game would disagree with. Nor is it really an aspersion upon their abilities. 99.99% of the boxers who ever graced those divisions are not as good as Charles.

It's completely correct to say charles is in a different class because he was. Neither of them can top his best victories in either weight.

The only way you'd ever think otherwise is if you were to judge him on his last ten fights or so
