At 170. I like Ezz in this one. Monzon, a stand up boxer, powerful left jab, good right cross, strong, takes a punch and technically sound. Charles, cat like quickness, has all the punches with power, fluid and a beautiful boxer. Forget about the weight drain, Charles dominates Monzon to a 15rd. U.D. or possible K.O.

Poor Carlos would be overmatched, he never faced a dynamic 175lber, let alone the best one in history like charles. charles handspeed, power, skills size would be too much for monzon. charles by knockout

I would imagine that the young, lightheavyweight version of Ezzard Charles would have been too much for Monzon at 170 lbs. Monzon simply never proved himself above the middleweight division. Add to this that Charles seemed to be the faster, stronger fighter in addition to having a physical size advantage.

My guess is that Charles wins by unanimous decision...Monzon's great skills enable him to go the distance.

I perosnally would pick Charles to beat Monzon at 160.

In agreement with the general consensus on this one. Charles by wide UD, possibly late TKO.

Are we talking about the LHW Charles or the middleweight Charles?

I think Monzon would beat the younger, middleweight Charles, but like Bummy said, probably no middleweight in the history of boxing can beat Charles at lightheavyweight.

    Get it youtubed

I think Monzon would win a few rounds, Charles would break him down landing the better cleaner shots, better combinations, bigger punches, and KO Monzon around R10

Its hard to tell how good the MW Charles was, Charles definately had a better skill set than Monzon and was the superior puncher. But Charles only fought around the MW limit for his first 2years and would probably be too green

Maybe the 1946 168lbs Charles could drain down to 160 however. If that version of Charles was near his best he'd beat Monzon
