I think the difference between the two could have been Floyd's susceptibility to getting knocked down, which Charles had the guns to exploit. If scoring was on a rounds basis, it would win rounds for Ezz which he might otherwise lose, and pay huge dividends if the ten point must system was employed. Charles too smart, versatile and technically sound for Patterson over the championship distance.

I loved the way Floyd was boxing against Ali in their second go, Floyds last bout. Feinting while staying close then going up and down with combo's, I had Floyd up at the time of the stoppage by a cut and I believe two judges had it even and one for Ali.

  4. the patterson who did beat archie moore and ingo in the rematch would ko the best charles. patterson is seriously underrated. in other thread a guy gave halger chance against patterson, it is ridiculous, RIDICULOUS!!

We don't have a lot of footage of either at Light Heavy, and a good bit of both at Heavy. I think at Light Heavyweight Charles looks superb.

The thing in this fight I see, is that Patterson is much more of a physical fighter, he does things without thinking. He lets his hands go, he uses his physical assets well doing it though.

Charles on the other hand is much more precise and methodical. He thinks about every move he makes, and I see this being the difference.

I can see Patterson being a bit more aggressive, opening up with two fisted attacks and smart angles, perhaps over whelming Charles a bit early. But as the bout progresses I think Charles would start to time hard counter-punches as Patterson opens up, and really start to take Patterson apart abit with well placed shots.

Floyd had the back problems in the 1st fight...and took rounds and lost nobly on a cut eye in the rematch.

Yes, this is when the forum gets dysfunctional with crap like that.

  10. yes man, it is very sad, patterson deserves much more credit. if a prime patterson had fought in the rocky´s era. patterson would have been the best rival of rocky
