Greb weighs around what he did when he beat Tunney or Loughran (so around 165lbs), Charles from here:

Does Greb add another top 5 LHW to his roster, or is Charles too much for him?

I think Greb could really do it, his style seems really troublesome for the Cincinnati Cobra.

    Me too, McVey.

It's obviously pretty hard to assess since there's no footage, and everything we're going by here is contemporary reports, however it's clear Greb was a beast.

Looking at the two fights mentioned for Greb in the OP, we have Tunney and Loughran. Both of whom beat Greb, and could give some bearing here. Charles didn't have a jab as good as either (although he had a pretty damn good jab), but he had better foot-work and defence than both, IMO. It's also pretty obvious that Charles' offence was much much better than Tunney's or Loughran's. Ezz was also a much better in-fighter.

Tunney famously went to the body as his strategy vs Greb. I don't see why Charles can't replicate this, and keep stinging Greb whilst moving around him, and Charles was a crucifying body puncher.I also don't think it's entirely fair to look into a few of Charles' fights with swarmers, since the fights with Marciano, Turnero and Overlin wouldn't be losses if he had been at his best vs them.

If Greb could beat Tunney he could beat Charles,,,,but I'm going with Charles. I'm pretty sure they'd split a pair of fights

I think Benitez would beat Loi.

I think Jones Jr would beat Calzaghe.

I think Charles would beat Greb.

Just think whatever Charles brings to the table, Greb could deal with. Greb defeated boxers as good or better than Charles, men who hit harder, men who were bigger, men who were tougher. Charles was not as well equipped to deal with someone like Greb IMO.

    Brilliant match-up.

There are no wrong answers here. I'm going to say Charles starts off well but Greb keeps picking up the pace to edge him by taking the championship rounds by workrate and accumulation.

How could you know what his style was and if Snooks is troubled by it? There is no film.

Marciano is a loss no matter when they fought.

Charles would've kicked his ass in the 40s. And the prime Charles who wasn't 188, slowed down and 32 with 100 fights, vs the peak Marciano, Charles wins. :deal:
