has as been mentioned ,charles's prime was at 175lb. at under 190 ezzard wins,a no steroid rule would still see ezzard as the victor !!
I want to take Ezzard, and i think he can win it, but this 'in their prime' rule is throwing me off, Holyfield is the bigger man at their absolute respective best. Ezzard likes to fire them rapid shots, and also at timrs likes to jump in with such, he may be met by a composed, confident and strong Holyfield who has speed in his fists to boot, and will push the action. Holyfield for me. In their respective best heavyweight form i think Ezzard has a much better chance, although Holyfield is not too far removed from his best here, we are not handicapping Charles in the format of being the smaller man. Charles can fight going backwards, and was effective against the best heavies of his era. I'll pick Charles in that scenario to even it out, plus i'm more fond of him.
I think to be fair to Ezzard we should match heavyweight Ezzard with cruiserweight Holyfield. That makes for a very intriguing matchup, imo. Holyfield at between 208 and 215 would be simply too tall an order for Charles.
