Yeah, Charles is winning this one. No doubt.

if Joe was contemporary to Ezzard, he might beat him by waiting till Charles was in his midforties whilst Joe was prime, Joes tried and trusted formula for beating really good boxers.

46 years olds can try to beat Joe Cal, but 46 year olds will fail.

since Calzaghe would wait till ezzard was 40something in order to fight him, calzaghe would also have the added benefit of fighting someone with motor neurone disease, and its guaranteed that Joe would clown the diseased Ezzard by pretending to hump him for 12 rounds, such is his lack of respect for aged legends, and Joe would enjoy it and be proud of doing it too, whooping with joy at the end celebrating beating up a cripple.

if anyone has any problem with this estimate then I am only going on what Joe did IN REAL LIFE, so blame joe not me.

ezzard destroys joe early, since Byron mitchll, a nothing compared to ezard, was in the process of destroying prime joe when Byron was retiring.

Charles dominated the cruiser version Calzaghe in Joey Maxim who at one point had a near 20 lb advantage on Charles. So I don't like Calzaghe's chances, coming in as the smaller man.

Charles likely by stoppage. Charles was one of the smartest fighters in history, technically he was near flawless and impossible to outbox, he was quick and carried one punch HW power in a 175-185 lb frame.

Calzaghe is light years better than Maxim.

Charles only chance to win, is if the fight is for 15 rounds. We never seen Calzaghe fight past 12.

That being said if the fight is for 12 rounds, Joe dominates....bad.

Charles would be run over by workrate. Joe Calzaghe is not a shot Joe Louis.

lefthanded means that Calzaghe would have beaten 50 year old Ezzard when Ezzard was stricken with Lou Gehrigs disease (which means you cant stand up or move your arms and need a wheelchair to get about).

yes calzaghe would have whooped and beaten his chest beating up that defenceless diseased version of ezzard. And then claimed chairbound ezzard was prime. And dum fans like lefthand would agree.

And lets face it Joe only faced the legends when they were substantially aged beyond retirement age, so that fits perfectly with what Joe actually did in real life. I didn't do it for joe, I didn't force joe to do that - he did it all by himself so if you have an issue with joe alone being the one to do this, ask joe why he did it.

Joe Calzaghe was a great fighter. High boxing IQ, underrated footwork, very good chin, the greatest work rate out of anyone above 147 all indicate that. However at light heavyweight, he was knocked down by a completely shot Roy Jones(albeit by a forearm smash) and a Bernard Hopkins that not only wasn't even a big puncher at middleweight, but had lost twice to middleweight Jermaine Taylor years before fighting Calzaghe. That's his light heavyweight resume. That's it. Nothing else. Ezzard Charles has one of the greatest light heavyweights resumes ever and is arguably not only the greatest 175 pounder ever, but arguably a top 20 ATG. And he is because he beat other ATGs, something Calzaghe never did. Charles beats Calzaghe convincingly by ud.
