Ezzard Charles was one of the greatest fighters of all time. Joe Frazier was not. But, alas, i think his weight combined with his style would make him a winner if they met. Ezzard was never at his best when he got above 180....85 out the outside. He was at his best at this weight , and even lighter when he still came easily under the 175 limit, against heavyweights. He was about 170 when he battered the tough Joe Baksi to pieces.

But..heavies weren't as heavy then as Frazier was, at least not most of the ones Ezz fought, and Ezzard's one weakness was having trouble against a body attack, which was Frazier's forte.

He was much harder hitter than Jimmy Ellis though, so he might give frazier more trouble. But frazier does win.

Welcome also, but gotta disagree with the notion that Frazier was not one of the greatest fighters of all time.

Joe Frazier IS one of the greatest fighters of all time. The pace that he set in the FOTC against Ali is comparable to that of a middleweight fight. No heavyweight fighter has put that kind of pressure on an opponent like Frazier did against Ali that night. Mike Tyson in his prime had shown some of the same pressure fighting skills as Frazier but he never fought at the same pace. There's no way Ezzard Charles handles the pressure of a prime 205 lb Frazier. Charles was a great champion and one of the best of his era but he'd get knocked out in the later rounds by Frazier.
