Charles in his prime vs heavyweight KO artists Max Baer and Cleveland Williams. How could this go for the smaller, but more skilled and quicker Charles. Both have the power to take him out with their best shots, but could they overcome Charles speed and boxing ability?

I like Charles to put a technical clinic on Williams, for sure, he could be clipped but I think he was good enough to take a few and keep boxing

But for Baer, I like Baer by KO. His overhand could cause serious issues for any one it hit, usually helping them catch up on sleep. I think Baer would get a stoppage later rather than sooner but he'd get it done whilst trailing on the cards.

Charles should beat Williams, but the Baer fight could go either way, if Max is on his game.

I think Charles could beat Baer.

He went 15 in a brilliantly brave performance against Marciano.

Marciano was better than Baer (blasphemy!) but Charles would have to be careful. Baer could hurt any man, he just has to land.

    Charles decision.

Marciano was better at applying sustained pressure, but you could make an argument for Baer as the better finisher.

Louis once quoted that Marciano hit harder than Baer. I'd argue that Marciano has everything over Baer except perhaps speed

Well, Louis wasn't hit flush by Baer, he was KOed by Marciano. I took that for granted, that Louis thought Marciano hit harder

True, which is why i mull over who hit harder between the two. I generally prefer Marciano's accomplishments and statements though

I predict baer would get outpointed for most the fight, baer knows he can drop just about anyone with a big shot and Charles would have baer at the disadvantage of seeing film of baers fights and knowing he's vulnerable to slickness, then again Charles could be terrified of the idea of fighting a legend that traveled foward in time. Either way baer lands a murderous overhand late rounds stopping Charles punk @ss.

Williams was a powerful man and would simply overpower and brutalize Charles and knock his punk @ss out as Well with a left hook before the 6th

    Charles 'punk ass'?

You do realise your talking about one of the greatest ever?

    How ignorant.

I think you're taking someone with ted Cruz as their profile pic a little too seriously my man, yes Charles was a great champ tho, just to clear the air, that's just the way I talk.

    Sorry about that.

With the way some posters talk about boxers like Marciano etc. It's hard to know what's a joke.

They were different kinds of puncher.

Marciano's style emphasized punch output more, while Baer sat down on his punches and went for the kill, but did not apply sustained pressure in the same way.

Baer's reach, combined with his reflexes, made it harder to get out of the danger zone.

a young 51-52 Marciano swung for the fences with his kitchen sink, he didnt start the more swarming-esk style until the charles fights and afterwards. Walcott qutoed that Marciano swung every punch like a bat, trying to knock you out
