I think that in a 185-214 division, if this fight were made, I think people in this thread would be waaay less confident in their picks. But Tyson is the right pick.
One thing i have noticed is when any head 2 head thread is made featuring any of Marcianos opponents, Rockys biggest fans always side with them, whether this a subconcious attempt to boost Marcianos standing i don't know but i do see it as being deluded.
I think that people are a bit too quick to dismiss the chances of former light heavyweights against Tyson, based upon the outcome of the Spinks fight. I would expect him to beat any and all of them, but I am sure that some of them would do significantly better than Spinks.
It's not just based on the Spinks fight-- it's based on an understanding of their respective strengths and weaknesses, and especially Tyson's considerable stylistic and physical advantages over virtually all smaller fighters.
Tyson wasn't really young (certainly not prime) when they fought and Holyfield had been an actual adult-sized heavyweight for more than 8 years before he fought Tyson...
No, it's based on the totality of Tyson's early career. Anything can happen if he has an off night, but no reason to believe that Tyson at his best has particular problems against someone like Charles, no matter how great of a career Charles had.
