I stand corrected. Regardless, my point still stands that Harold Johnson at that point, would've very likely beaten Liston at that point in their careers, and it would have zero bearing on Charles VS Liston.
Sonny Liston '59. wins. Ezzard Charles would have to box like never before in his career to beat Liston. Liston is a completely different type of beast than the aging Joe Louis.
Agree with the majority, Liston takes this one, probably by KO. I usually tend to go with the superior boxers in the H2H matchups, but while I feel Charles is the more skilled of the two, Liston had plenty of skill himself. I can see Ezzard lasting till late in the fight & giving Sonny lots of problems, it would by no means be a Patterson-type blowout.
