    Max Schmeling
    Jerry Quarry
    Jack Sharkey
    Jimmy Ellis
    Jimmy Young

Could the Charles of 1946-50 go undefeated?

Yeah he’d beat all those guys. Sharkey could be the bump that upsets the apple cart on occasion in “real life” circumstances but you’re talking about the best fighter to ever exist above 160lbs.
He’ll probably be the greatest 175lbs forever unless circumstances change.
I’d say and it’s just my opinion a good match up for Ezzard Charles at heavyweight would be Sonny Liston. Few would say that wouldn’t be a very good fight.

EDIT: I did not notice Schemlimg - that would be very interesting.

My grandfather held that Charles could outbox Liston

He could, but I'd say no. He wasn't a natural heavyweight

All of those guys would be the size of the guys he competed and won against at heavyweight.
