Charles at his HW peak vs

    Cleveland Williams
    Ron Lyle
    Earnie Shavers
    Mac Foster

Does Charles go undefeated through this murderers row of punchers?

He lasted 15 rounds with Rocky Marciano in June 1954 in one of the all time great brawls in heavyweight history...that's all you need to know. Shavers?...he'd be gassed mid way through the fight....Mac Foster had his butt kicked by Jerry Quarry...(Foster was proclaimed as a future champ...how'd that work out?) Charles is an all time great...

Very good chance to go 4-0.

Yeah I think he could go 4-0 against them. Not guaranteed with that kinda power being thrown around but Ez’ did pretty good against big hitters

Agreed. As you also know, Charles beat the dangerous Elmer Ray, Joe Walcott, aged Joe Louis and went 3-0 against Archie Moore. So he had a good track record against world class punchers. I’ll still give some of those guys a punchers chance though. Larry Holmes was one of the most durable heavies of all time and that Shavers right hand nearly took his head off

Charles won't go undefeated here, too much size and power.

A very good chance of going 4-0 since Charles is the supperior fighter here.

In more realistic terms probably this goes 3-1 with Shavers and maybe Lyle being the ones most dangerous.

That right hand would have sparked Charles out, but I have faith in his ability to avoid it.

Shavers or Lyle, or really any of these four, would have trouble even finding Charles in the ring.

Though Shavers was probably worse than Lyle H2H I'd give him a much better shot against Charles. Lyle while more polished was overly predictable and mechanical.

Shavers while lacking skills, was relatively unpredictable and unorthodox and would have a much much better chance of catching Charles with something he didn't see coming.

Their respective fights against Young support this imo.

Fair point. It’s been a while since I watched a Shavers fight, I need to go back and refresh my memory.

2-2. He beats Foster, loses to Lyle. Probably beats Cleveland Williams majority of time and loses to Shavers majority of time.

I would argue anyone all day that he most likely KO’s or UD’s all four - I want you to watch Toney vs Holyfield, people don’t understand how much class difference there is between lower down on the totem pole and the ones up top, top of the totem pole VERY rarely have the skills for when 160lbs contenders - Louis is the only expeption of a true HW having 135lber ability… Charles had the skills for 135lbs any weight, any era he was one of the best there was…. What Toney did to Holyfield would be reflected in what he does to Foster, Williams, Shavers and Lyle his chin is fine, his skills are immense and they’d feel the weight of an elephant on there chest trying to figure out how to box the Cobra.
