This doesn't seem like it would be a very entertaining fight, but very tactical. Charles has the skill advantage, but Tubbs is skilled and has a size advantage. Who wins?
This would definitely be a tactical boxing match. Two fast handed fighters with great skills but neither having much to hurt the other with. Ezzard was a true warrior who fought many times in a single year and faced literally every style we can think of. Tubbs had great reflexes, good defense and good combos and jabs. He was also the bigger man. But he wasn’t a power puncher or terribly aggressive. I’m going to pick Ezzard Charles to take a decision win here.
Charles, educated pressure on the front foot, backing Tubbs up and using the lead hand to set up rights by jabbing up and down and changing the looks and movement of that lead hand. Ducking to the side of Tubbs’ jab and throwing lead hooks to close the distance and get into close and mid range where he can shorten them up and throw body shots and combinations, going to the body as Tubbs slips and slides, that’s where Tubbs is outmatched, in mid and close range.
