Ya.........and Charles also never gave young stud heavyweights like Bob Baker, Clarence Henry, Roland Lastarza, Rex Layne, Rocky Marciano a crack at his title during his reign........and instead used up 5 of his title defenses against IBC controlled D level ham and eggers. That Said........Charles did everything there was to do at light-heavyweight. No one at 175lb could mess with the cobra.
He is one of the greatest he is number 5 p4p for me and number 1 at lightheavy, as mentioned he does hold similarities to Ray Robinson expect Ray had a better chin and more one punch power while Charles was a better infighter. His resume is one of the best ever up there with Greb and Langford he beat the likes of Burley, Bivins, Marshall, Moore, Maxim, Billy Smith, Elmar Ray, Walcott, Louis, Layne, Satterfield and Lesnevich. He also seemed like a class guy if you watch his interviews he was also very religous after he killed a man in the ring (Sam Baroudi) he lost a bit of his fire and wanted to quit the sport it took his local priest and Baroudi's father to convince him to carry on fighting.
