Lubkovich is jabbing and moving, keeping a bit of space between them. Mayfield is huffing and puffing but still the (ineffective) aggressor. Lubkovich is scissoring his legs and taking long breaks in between counter punches, as Mayfield in turn is pursuing and not throwing much until in range, and then flapping and missing, primarily drubbing Lubkovich across the shoulders and biceps. Sweeping counter right by Lubkovich while sidestepping, grazes the chin of Mayfield who cuts straight in and jostles Lubkovich in a rough clinch.

Round 9

Lubkovich connects on nice two-piece on the mouth of Mayfield. Lubkovich is tiring, bobbing in place on the outside while awaiting Mayfield, who seems to have no sense of urgency to cut the ring off at the moment, taking his own breather. Lubkovich knifes up a jab from the hip, alternately pronating & supinating the arm. Lots of clinches as Mayfield jumps in and works uppercut combos on the belt line. Lubkovich misjudges a step after eating a couple of chopping rights on the face and stumbles in his attempt to regain his balance, and Mayfield lands a couple of rabbit punches with a shoveling right flourish on the cheek as Lubkovich is compromised in a doubled-over position.

10-9 Mayfield, stole it, Lubkovich hadn't put enough in the bank.

Huh? Almost nobody is going to look great against Mayfield.

I think all things considered he comes away from this exactly the same level of prospect he was heading in.

 

Round 10

Lubkovich seems pretty gassed and is now the one initiating a lot of the holding (unlike earlier when Smoger deducted a point even though blame in those stages was probably equal, or assignable to nobody as far as being intentional, just an incidental product of the styles clash). Lubkovich is grinding his right elbow into Mayfield's upper spine when the American charges in low, goring him into the ropes. Lubkovich isn't doing much clean pretty work but he's still negating Mayfield's offense. A couple of short light counters by Lubkovich as he backs into the ropes before Mayfield collides with him.
