So, Barrera fights the hardest P4P puncher in the sport, a guy who is considered by some as the #1 P4P fighter, and at least #2 by everyone else and he gets dumped on for not going toe to toe. What a load of ****. Barrera's best chance in this fight was to resist the temptation to brawl and try and box Manny. If he'd threw caution to the wind and went toe to toe with Pac, he almost certainly would have been KO'd. In the end, Barrera didn't do enough to win, but he deserves credit for trying. He adopted a strategy that gave him the best possibly chance of winning. There's no shame in that.
I thought mab fought well but pac won at least 7-5. He went toe to toe on the odd occassion but mostly kept it boxing, he tried to take a leaf out of morales book in the 1st pac fight but obviously marco & erik have different qualities & he never quite pulled it off this time. Pac will have to attack in more powerfull bursts if he is to beat marquez & as long as he is just a notch better than he was vs barrera then he beats jmm again imo (I thought pac edged their 1st fight.) :good
MAB is an ATG for sure, but I guess some of the hate is coming from his personality and ****-talking before the match about how he was so confident he could smell victory. It's the same reaction when PBF said he was going to anhilate DLH and go toe-to-toe and when that didn't happened, we saw what happened. I have respect for what MAB has done in his career, but he's classless imo and always resorts to cheap dirty tricks when he's hurt. Knowing that it was his last fight, I would've expected some more fire from him in the last few rounds. Didn't like he didn't give Manny his due (even Morales had enough class to admit he wasn't the better man) for the win during the post-fight interviews and kept going on and on about how he was able to not be knocked. To not be knocked out and go 12 rounds with Manny. Great last words I guess.
Pac has that extra UMPH when you brawl with him. Pac gets into a good rythm in that type of fight and his hand speed and power would overwhelm barrera eventually. But those who knock Barrera need to choose another sport. BOXING is not for them. He fought the perfect fight for him. He noticed that was not the same Pac 3 years ago. This PAC does not just fight he boxes too. Pac taunted him and tried to bait him into a fight but Barrera is a smart guy and knew that would mean getting his ass whooped.
Leave MAB alone. He is a human being! He puts his ass there in the ring, not you. He does that! You're lucky he even performs for you *******s :|
Or fans who wanted him to go out guns blazing in Mexican style glory. We didn't see much hate on EM in his last fight.
Anybody who thought Floyd was going to go toe to toe with ODH has a few screws loose and a few bolts missing. Not even the most DIE HARD Floyd fan talked that kind of **** like Floyd beating ODH toe to toe. That is not reality, that was to sell the fight. If you cant see that you must be ****ing joke of a ******. ODH is far bigger than him and he is also a puncher. Floyd haters are only mad b/c floyd didnt get into a brawl but did not run an inch either. So he basically shut your dumb ass up.
Of course, it was to sell the fight. The same can be said for last night's fight, the PBF-ODLH was just a parellel that I saw. But circumstances are different here, considering the bad blood that MAB supposedly had for PAC and what he did in his previous fight, I expected more of an effort in the final few rounds. Being disappointed by MAB and hating on him are different things.
I'd never hate on MAB and have stated as much, but there also were a lot of questionable posts about how close the fight was. You can defend Barrera for choosing not to fight competitively, and I'm right there with you, but it doesn't change the fact that he did, in fact, make the decision not to fight competitively. At the point he had to know he was losing the decision, he still didn't push for a victory. He fought to survive. I'm a huge Roy Jones fan, but I had to acknowledge the same about him in Jones/Tarver III. It doesn't make either fighter less brilliant, but it does underscore the point that it's time for both to exit the sport.
I like MAB and I think he's a great fighter and a first ballad Hall of Famer but I got a question for MAB fans. When MAB boxes through the whole fight you guys say he's fighting smart but when PBF boxes the whole fight you guys say that PBF is running? Why there a double standard between 2 hall of fame fighter?
MAB fought with a gameplan to counter and use his jab...i personally thought MAB was strong enough to trade with Pac, but MAB himself didn't believe it...but MAB didn't run from Pac, he boxed and he lost...he's still a legend
That double standard is because MAB has been in a lot of wars, and gave everything to his fans. He was fighting Pacquiao, past his prime, so he needed to fight like that. But Mayweather has always been fighting like that.
