You have no grounds to make that assumption on mate. In every interview we read Zbik said he was prepared to fight martinez and do so in the US.

I never said he would back out, I said that it wouldn't surprise me if that turned out to be the case.

    Either way it's all conjecture.

According to BScene, Martinez is now Emeritus and the Diamond belt will be on the line in his next fight.

Seems like it's all falling into place for Sillyman & Co. Edge Martinez aside, insert paper champion who will have to defend against Chavez...... then a Mexico vs Argentina showdown for big bucks.

    Brilliant.

Because he couldn't make the weight anymore. Sergio put on a lot of muscle for the Pavlik fight and could never be as effective at 154. That's why the Williams camp insisted on a catchweight for the middleweight title knowing Martinez' weight problems.

    :rofl:rofl

There you go, it's all about Chavez Jr getting a shot and since Universum don't have TV Arum will take it to Mexico.

Clever move by the WBC so they still try and keep Martinez sweet by giving him this phony emeritus status so that if the Chavez jnr plan all goes up in flames the WBC can come crawling back to Martinex for some more sanctioning fees

I agree with ishy - **** the WBC, that is truly disgraceful.

the true, legit, lineal middleweight champion now only has the Ring title.

That alone tells you all you need to know, and for those that still don't rate the Ring title, then this act alone should now change their minds.

**** all the alphabet organisations- he shouldn't be bothered that he lost it- fair play to him. The Ring belt is the only one I am interetsed in.
