Glad Malignaggi said it, its true, boxers with the money behind them will always get the decision, normally dont mind jim grey but that was ****ish last night... respect paulie all the more for saying it and i liked the guy anyway, its not like he needs his showtime job, he's a boxer and will have made alotta money in his career.
This, I had a old military buddy watching the fight with us who is black and said broner does not represent black people lol. Broner is just a dumbass, boxing gods failed on this one & totally chose the wrong person to give talent to.
Good thread. It was an awkward interview, and even afterward you could see that it was weird for the commentary team too. Paulie was right. He deserved better than having a judge come in with his card filled out already. All boxers do. It's about time we gave fighters a fair shake, but promoters have so much money tied up in their prospects it's not going to happen. We really need a national commission. I feel like on one hand Gray was classless, but on the other he might have kept Paulie from being fired by giving him a second and third chance to say that he wasn't necessariiiiiiilllllllly saying the fight was fixed, but the fight was fixed. It was definitely a legitimization of Paulie's argument though. "Oh, so you blame boxing politics. Are you suuure you want to take this road, Paulie?" How does that come off as anything other than "Yes, you're right, now are you sure you don't want to rephrase that in light of the fact that you're right? Think about it." Broner represents a stereotype of black people, and he plays to it because young people love it and everyone else is annoyed by it, which makes us watch his fights. It's sad really.
Paulie went Teddy Atlas out there, loved the speech though, i thought he lost without dispute but that speech touched a nerve he poured a lot out about what many of us fans say about whats wrong loved the whole post fight behavior no hug, talked **** while reading the scores, thats the first time ive seen fighters staring each other down during the score reading they looked ready to continue fighting then no hug after the score and Broner tries to put Paulie down and Paulie doesnt let him and gets in his face loved the genuine bad blood
I only predicted Broner to win cos I knew there was no way Paulie was winning unless he knocked Broner out. To take his belt away you better beat the champ decisively. Paulie did a hell of a lot worse against Cano but thre money trail won him the fight.
No you tool, to take away the belt you only need to do one thing and that's exactly what Broner did, winning more rounds than his rival.
he is right to take the belt from the champ u must win decisively. at the end of the day i agree w paulie that fight scores can be BS but where was his anger when cano beat him fair and square yet got screwed out of the decision? it works both ways paulie!!!
Paulie has every right to do what he did The deck was stacked against him before he even entered the ring. The 117-111 is very suspect I think tom shrek should be made to explain how he came by it
It's not an opinion stupid, it's how boxing works. Scorecards don't read as "decisive win" but as who won how many rounds. You don't have to beat the champ decisively to win the title, you only need to win 7 rounds on two scorecards, and that's it. Welcome to our sport.
Maybe they should give Broner the win but not the title unless he wins by 4 points all cards ? Something like that ?
:rofl That's what happens when the Lounge trolls have nowhere else to go and forced to comment on things they have no clue about.
