He utterly poisoned this match for any impressionable fan.

 

I do get tired of his bashing the HW division. I understand that he doesn't like it and I understand that he doesn't like the K Bros. But if he can't keep it to himself, if he can not keep himself from bashing the HW scene, then he needs to quit his position as a commentator.

The bottom line is that if the people paid to provide commentary for a product call it a shitty product, people won't buy it. If he truly loves boxing, then he needs to stop. Telling people the HW division sucks will not help it garner main stream attention. It only further convinces people that the division is dead and no one should pay any attention to it.

He should just go train Povetkin to be whatever he thinks a HW should be and do his part to change whatever it is he hates about the division.

Teddy Atlas sounded liked a stupid and uneducated idiot. He downplayed the Klitschkos, put down the heavyweight division, and mistakenly and closemindedly called Vladimir "Russian" and was corrected for it. He was an ahole and should not ever be a commentor again.

 

he has a great book and i suggest everyone read it. this guy has done so much for the sport of boxing.

I didn't see the ESPN feed, but I did see the ESPN coverage of Wlad-Chagaev.

Atlas is a jealous POS, and I am sick of him ragging on the sport in general when many casuals tune in on ESPN. I remember before ODLH-Pac, ESPN was interviewing him and he started right off the bat with some long winded remark about boxing not being the same as the 1920's blah blah...way off topic rant, just a way for him to **** on our sport.

He is a loudmouth idiot and a garbage commentator.

 

Difference being,Merchant knows what he is talking about.
