Ok ....... Maybe I'm missing something here. I'm no fan of either fighter but for every great shot Martinez landed Williams landed 4 or 5 good shots. Paul clearly outworked him and Martinez put up a great fight. Props to Martinez because I thought he would be Molly whopped. But just because he put up a great fight doesn't mean he won. I like Martinez style and enjoyed the effort he gave but Williams landed alot of punches in there. But everytime Martinez landed 1 Larry merchant would go crazy. What about the 4 Williams just landed? I smell a man crush here now that Taylors gone.

I completely agree. the fight was great. give us the rematach. And I actually commend Kellerman for calling out the corrupt judge.

This fight was very very close. One judge scored it badly. the other two judges were spot on. There are 3 ways to score this fight. 7-5 Pwill, 7-5 Sm or a draw. That is it, if you dont have one of those cards your way off base. Stop crying and start giving appreciation!

the scoring was terrible i agree, but people need to realize how great of a fight this was and forget about the terrible scoring. some people are just so quick to hate a fighter no matter what happens.

Im glad someone gets my thread.

Thanks for having your head screwed on right, you put it best right there.
This thread is about soaking up the classic fight which we just witnessed, not the horrible scoring of that one judge.

I was a fan of both going in, and even moreso than ever, these guys are what boxing is about.

BS im not cring i watched it as a neutral and I saw evidence of corruption. Williams and Martinez were great but if your think fans who want to see fairness are "crying" when the result is totally Fcked then your either a fan of the boxer who benefited or you dont care for fariness and honest victories. stopy crying - you say = ok so will you say that about all of Sven Otke's victories? Over Juan Diaz victories over Valuevs vitory of holyfiled. I'll stop crying when you OPEN YOUR FCKING EYES to realise the sport is getting FCKED and COP THE FCK ON AND RECOGNISE IT.

    They were.

    Martinez landed at 40%.
PWill outlanded him but had something like high 20ish if I remember correctly.

Anyways, they were there and Martinez obviously landing the cleaner harder shots.

i dont think it was a highway robbery, i think it was a very, very close fight. i probably would have it a draw if i scored round by round but i got cought up in the fight and stopped scoring.

Pro match: Martinez took this fight.

Amateur match: Williams would've taken it

You're talking some different levels of **** here bro.

Ottke had outright robberies, where the ref was in on the fix.
Valuev vs Holyfield was an outright robbery.

Paulie v Juan Diaz was a close fight, and I had it edged to Diaz. People bought too much into Paulie's BS before and after the fight.

This fight was close, I thought Williams won it, but Martinez did more damage. But you score on rounds, and on rounds I had it 7-5 Williams.

I had Sergio Martinez winning 7-5. Some rounds were CLOSE and could have gone either way but I really liked Sergio's cleaner shots. Both guys showed tremendous heart and surprised me. Sergio Martinez is one of these guys who can't catch a break but whatever...what a ****ing fight. Lets get a rematch fist quarter of 2010. Was this FOTY???
