He barely beat a faded Mosley, so its safe to say that he loses to a prime one. He gets outboxed easily by Forrest. I'd pick him being KO'd by Mayorga, but he could actually win a decision if he got on his horse for that fight. Cory Spinks would be a toss up. I'd take Spinks outside of New York. In New York Cotto wins.

8-4 isnt barely beating Shane Mosely. Sorry and that Mosely wasnt faded as he went on to become the Welterweight champion a year later. Try again.

I think its a toss up between Cotto/Forrest and Cotto/Mayorga. He beats the crap out of Spinks no doubt.

Cotto loses to a prime Mosley and Forrest. He could outbox a prime Mayorga but that's a 50/50 fight. Cotto beats Spinks hands down without no controversy.

8-4? :rofl More like 7-5 at best, with Mosley pressing the fight at the end with Cotto on his bike.

Mosley beat an equally overrated and mediocre boxer in Margarito who stood infront of Mosley and traded with him. And is not nearly the same Mosley that won the welterweight title some years ago.

Forrest wins a wide decision. Mayorga would seriously trouble Cotto. And im not so sure a boxer with serious weaknesses like Cotto would be so sure of beating Spinks.

Im not going to pick Forrest that easily. Not when he was scared shitless of Mayorga back in 2002. Remember in the rematch when he was afraid to throw a punch. And of course Mayorga can be outboxed and he never reacted well to:

    body punching.

When it comes to Cotto, yes. Thats why im done picking him in big fights. I've finally accepted the fact that he's a average boxer with some power but not enough to make him ever elite.

I must say Kirk this is a very impressive post from you. It really put alot of the things that were said into perspective. Your Native American wisdom has shined through again.:yep

Cotto ever since 2007 has given the fans the matchups they want to see for the most part. If/when he beats Pacquiao I know he will fight Berto eventually.

Mayorga is an unorthodox fighter who is hard to time for boxers. Thats why he caused Mosley so much problems. As for Cotto he's orthodox and not hard to figure out, Cotto would be outboxed comprehensively.

An 8-4 or 7-5 scores for a Cotto win are both acceptable. Cotto beats Spinks, no questions asked.

Excuse me... Cotto would be outboxed by Mayorga?

Outbrawled, maybe, but so far all we've seen bother Cotto is speed, infighting, pressure, and straight punches, none of which were Mayorga's strong suits. I see Cotto weathering Mayo's early rush and countering his wide shots to death as the fight rolled on.

Margarito and Clottey. He should have lost to Clottey but he got gifted a decision in NY. Not surprising.

Never said that. I said that Mayorgas style made him a nightmare for boxers that rely on timing. Thats why he gave Forrest and Mosley hell. Cotto is a boxer, atleast he triest to be, and with his defense that is incredibly porous I could see him getting caught big. However he could possible win a UD if he fought off the back foot.

Keep in it real Danny? To me you came off as a bit of a troll. Not because you don't like Cotto, or because you may think he's a **** fighter. I could care less about that, but your points were weak and when you were confronted you weren't able to evaluate them and form a more educated opinion. If Cotto fans make it hard for you to like him, don't start a thread about him because they'll show up ;) and try not to go to every thread Cotto related (even I miss most of them and I'm a big Cotto fan). Of course you can do whatever you want, I'm just giving some friendly advice that's worked for me :good
