Juanma's next fight is in Oct. vs Rogers Mtabwa who is
26-12...REALLY???? Because Juanma is a "Hyped" Puerto Rican fighter with a big following..There are plenty of fighters from 122-130lbs that would LOVE an opportunity to fight him for a big payday and to show....THAT HE IS A "PROTECTED FIGHTER":

Chris John, Rocky Juarez, Robert Guerrero (overrated) and especially Gamboa are waiting for a chance...Along with Guillermo Rigondeaux. And there is a young undefeated prospect from Houston Texas named Hylon Williams 130lbs. He's a former multi-time Amatuer Champ who's READY FOR THE BIG TIME!!!

ITS TIME TO STEP-UP!!!! Or is Juanma going to follow the same script as Cotto and Build a resume of 122lbs versions of Oktal Urkal, Gianluca Branco, Mohammed Abduleav, Alfonso Gomez and Michael Jennings????

FOR THE RECORD BORICUAS....I am not saying that he is a poor fighter, In fact I believe he is a VERY SOLID FIGHTER...But the question is: What more can be accomplished at 122lbs? And if there is more to be accomplished at 122lbs...Will fighting Rogers Mtabwa help you MAKE A STATEMENT??? REALLY???

I can see if Juanma was 4'11-5'2. But he is a legit 5'7. And at 5'7 he can easily put on 4-8lbs without losing any speed.

    PLEASE JUANMA...TIME TO STEP-UP!!!!

Be patient. The big fights are on the way for Lopez. His promoter has a lot to do with his fights.

I'd like to see Lopez in the big fights already as well. I'm a big fan of his. I think he is an action packed fighter that could give a lot of trouble to any other fighter. However, I do think that the Penalosa fight showed that he still has somethings to learn, primarily defense. I saw him get hit flush lots of times. This might be the tune up he needs. Mtbawa is a very offensive fighter and will force Juan to play defense and counter.

I agree he does need to step up no doubt about that. Hopefully

He should fight all those guys eventually, Arum is trying to put a Lopez vs Gamboa fight on for next year. Rigondeaux only has two fights under his belt so he needs more time to develop.

My goodness your thick. And please don't take that as name calling. Why even bring up Cotto name and say that he built up a resume by fighting guys like Jennings and Gomez when at that point when he fought them he had guys like Mosley,Judah,Margarito,Quintana on his record?......Cotto 140 resume is very solid while his 147 pound resume is very good.

Well he still has one more challenge left at 122 which is the current IBF and WBA title holder Celistino Caballero. Juanma has'nt been in a rush to fight him to be honest and I will pull my support from him if he does'nt. I agree with everything you said in this regard about Juanma.

Weren't you the same one who painted ALL BORIQUAS with the same brush before ? Your tired and bias commentary is really becoming very annoying. In your resume of Cotto's fights you fail to mention he fought Mosley, Margarito and Clottey!? What a joke! Protected would have meant that Cotto DID NOT FIGHT THESE BEASTS of the WELTERWEIGHT DIVISION but DUCKED THEM! But according to your silly argument he's been "protected". Get a grip bruh, your bias is blinding you. The last 6 fighters Juanma's faced have a combined record of 183-15! Do you count Penalosa, De Leon and Medina in your assessment of his fighters?

Are you trying to hold PR fighters to a different standard than American born fighters ?

Allow him to clean out a division first before putting him against Lightweights! When was the last time we've seen ANYONE CLEAN OUT DIVISION??

lost all credibility when you implied cotto has had an easy path as a fighter, or is somehow not fighting who he should be fighting on a yearly basis.

He's still young but i would rather see him fight caballero. This should be his last fight at 122 then move up to 126 and start fighting the likes of gamboa-john-juarez and hopefully vazquez.

I agree, although, Penalosa's pretty solid and a good champ and and Ponce Deleon was a good opponent.

on the bright side him and Gamboa are on the same card coming up for their next fights and if they both win (almost sure things) there's a good chance of a fight popping off between those 2 which would be fireworks.

JuanMa should fight Celestino Caballero VERY soon. But it is not up to him who he fights.

Ok, I am going to respond to Benny Blanco, ps9teacher and Kirk.

Look...Everyone is saying that I am not mentioning Mosley, Margarito or Clottey when it comes to Cotto's Resime. I am not talking about those fighters he faced...I am talking about the Below Average to Average competition he fought building the Resume, Popularity and ranking in order to fight those fighters.

Imagine if you replaced those series of European fighters with Urango, Hatton, Clottey Margarito...Cotto would have NEVER made 30-0.
    And now at 26-0...Juanma is fighting a 26-12 fighter...REALLY???

OK...here is the issue: Jermaine Taylor in his 20th pro fight fought Raul Marquez, then William Joppy...then later, back 2 back fights with Hopkins, Then Winky, Kasim Ouma, Spinks, two fight with Kelly Pavlik ALL within 30 fights. Ward and Dirrell are fighting in a SUPER 6 TOURNEY...And neither fighter has 20 fights yet. This Kid Deandre Lattimore fought Sechew Powell and Spinks within 20 pro fights.

Floyd was 17-0 when Fought Genaro Hernandez for his first title. He was 24-0 vs Corrales, 27 & 28-0 when he fought Castillo. Andre Berto fights Forbes, Collazo and Urango within 25 Pro fights. Devon Alexander fights Corley and Junior Witter and he's only 19-0.

The point I am making about Cotto, Juanma and ALOT of Latin fighters....Is that they have these INFLATED AZZ records of 30plus fights against MARGINAL, AVERAGE competition before fighting TOP-SHELF OPPISITION!!!

EXAMPLE: Meldrick Taylor was in his 24th Pro fight when he fought Julio Cesar Chavez...who was 66 or 68-0 . THAT'S ****IN' CRAZY!!!

Black Fighters are held to a HIGHER STANDARD!!!! They would be laughed out of the sport and labeled as OVERRATED if they PADDED their resumes like Latin fighters.
This is why they Fight TOP-SHELF AND ELITE-LEVEL fighters within their first 20 fights.

Benny Blanco once called me a Racist because of this statement...But I honestly believe its a legitimate claim...If you disagree...EXPLAIN...INSTEAD OF NAME CALLING!!!

I'm not hating too much on JuanMa himself, but one thing that bothers me is his fans claiming that Vazquez is somehow ducking him as if Lopez is his only option in the sport. Look at this young guy's record, do you honsetly think he's earned a shot at the elite champs of the divsion so much that they must be afraid if they don't fight him? Come on now.

LOL....wow your lost. Cotto beat Clottey in a fight that could have gone either way so no point in mentioning him. Cotto was always a better fighter than Hatton, even at 140. Cotto beats Urango who has been Cotto sparring partner in the past.

No denying Taylor resume. But if you want to be a "Boxrec Warrior" then I can be too.
Cotto in his 9th fight fought Juston Jukko, in his 13th fight he fought Cezar Bezan, in his 19th fight he fought Lovemore Ndou, in his 21st fight fought Randall Bailey, in his 22nd fight fought Demarcus Corley.

No denying Floyd resume. Berto resume is not better than Cotto's when he 25-0. Devon Alexander is nothing to ride home about, credit to him on the Witter win but still not that impress.

Well as you can see Cotto did'nt fight 30 plus average/marginal fighters before he stepped up.

Well alot of Latin fighters from Mexico or South American countries had big time padded records but that's not so much the case anymore. If your a better fighter then your a better fighter despite whether a record is inflated or not.

EXAMPLE: Trinidad was in his 23rd Pro fight when he fought Luis Ramon Campas...who was 56-0. THAT'S ****IN' CRAZY!!!

But who won the fight?....Trinidad by 4th round TKO.

It's obvious you ignore the retorts of other posters here proving you wrong over and over again. But you just try to hold on to something that's not there for the sake of not wanting to admit your wrong. And by the way I hope you did'nt take me calling you "thick" as name calling unless your a real sensitive type,if so then my apology.
