Since moving up from 135 PBF has fought nothing but journeymen, nobodies or big money novelties. Corley - a journeyman/contender at best Brusseles - nobody Gatti - one-dimensional journeyman Mitchell - only his second fight at WW after a shaky cuts decision Judah - had just lost to Baldomir, 3 wins from 7 fights since Baldomir - struck the lottery in Judah looking past him to a fight with PBF DLH - big money novelty fight Hatton - only Hatton's second fight at WW, PBF made Hatton come up to 147, a weight Hatton looked woeful at vs Collazo. JMM - JMM's first fight at WW, PBF made him jump from 135 to 147. He's looking for the easiest big money fights around and hoping that in years to come these names will contribute to his legacy when poeple have forgotten about the weight issues and calibre of opponent. There's not a lot to respect about that, and that isn't a double standard.
Floyd haters just can't deal with logic. You can't read what daryl posted and find one falacy, not one. The haters can't deal with logic they can only deal with emotions of anger and hate.
The "DOUBLE STANDARD" that you speak of was created by the "master" HIMSELF! He's been at WELTERWEIGHT for a little over 4 years and he's fought..... Sharmba, Baldo and Judah???? Really? These were the only opponents available during this time span? He fights a junior welterweight in Hatton and JMM a Lightweight and he's "GREAT"? Really? PBF has been his own worst enemy. He "retires" when HIS DIVISION is the most loaded it's been in a long time and returns after all of these monsters fight each other to only fight a souped up Super featherweight! What a joke. Why not fight Cintron, Quintana or even Clottey as a tune-up ? I'm not saying he would lose because he's really that good. But when he takes on a natural lightweight and is unable to put him away, even with the obvious size advantage, that's just sad. To compare him to Oscar is also ridiculous. Who did OSCAR fight prior to Pacman?? Wanna guess? oh yeah he fought PBF, HOPKINS, MAYORGA, STURM, MOSLEY and even Campas (at end of career). PBF's resume pale's in comparison. The only beef with FLOYD has been and always will be that there is stiff comp. that is available for him to test himself but he consistently avoids it. Taking the easy way out and fighting lesser opponents. (Hatton, JMM, Judah, Mitchell) Can you really sit here and say that his career is better than Sugar Ray Leonard's ? Sugar Comes back after a 3 year layoff and Fights Hagler, are you serious? JMM ??? FYI- If PBF were to fight Pac it would be an easy UD or Majority Decision. The Pacman-PBF set-up is a complete fraud, The build-up is blinding people to cold hard facts. If PBF shows up to the PAC fight with that size, no doubt Floyd would easily win. So my question remains why not fight a true WELTER for a tune-up match?
You dumb ****s aren't reading the post. Like he said, at the time he fought guys like Hatton, baldomir etc... everyone was calling for these fights and saying he was going to get killed. then once he makes it look esy, people look back in hidnsight and say they weren't that good anyway. Yeah they were good fighters but Floyd is a great fighter and makes things look easy. he can whoop anybody 147 and below.
Hey I never discredited him. Simply saying he's a twat and that is why people won't give him credit for his accomplishments, because they don't like him. It's his own fault that he acts so immature. Most of the people that I know buy his fights in hopes to see him lose.
Well Said...Great Response. I wanted him to fight Margarito, Cintron, Cotto & Mosley. But Floyd (later in his career) chases the "Money". Oscar and Hatton were the BOX OFFICE Draws at the time. Oscar had the Benefit of fighting in an era that had SO MANY TOP-SHELF, ELITE-LEVEL fighters from 147lbs-154lbs. And there are no WINKYS, FORREST, MAYORGAS, QUARTREYS, TRINIDAD, HOPKINS, VARGAS, STURM, JOPPYS now-a-days at 147lbs for Floyd to fight. Now, I am hoping Cotto wins, so he can fight a TRUE Welter and / or fight Mosley. Also Berto would be nice and Margarito. There is also a VERY DEEP talent pool of fight at 140: Bradley Maidana Amir Khan Juan Urango Devon Alexander And also some serious talent at 154lbs...Because the way Floyd looked on the night of the JMM fight...making 154lbs should be NO PROBLEM: Sergio Martinez Alfred Angulo Kermit Cinton But Good Points though...Thanks for the response.
I'll be the first to give PBF all the credit in the world if he does end up fighting Cotto and/or Mosley and beats them as well. The Pac fight is for the casual fan. But as far as match-ups ideally I would love to see him in the ring with any of the guys you mentioned @ 147. Heck 140 would make for some serious match-ups as far as speed and offense!
There's a big difference between not respecting him as a person and not respecting him as a fighter. I think PBF's a total dick. I'd love nothing more than to see him get his annoying ass handed to him in the ring. But I'm not going to change my opinion of him purely as a boxer just because I don't like him. I think the guy is a rare talent, and head and shoulders above anyone else in the sport right now. And I hope he ends up facing everyone his naysayers say he's been ducking. I don't see anyone beating him though. But hey, I hope I'm wrong. It's dangerous to proclaim anyone as "unbeatable."
We're not dumb but don't **** on my leg and tell me it's raining. Case in point Floyd beats the P4P Lightweight Champ JMM @ welterweight and he should be considered the P4P KING? A tune-up with a Life long Super featherweight? This guy, PBF, is so talented it's ridiculous. Why not fight Cintron, Clottey, Quintana as tune-ups ? I still say he beats Pac going away and he needs to finish his career in WW by defeating Cotto, Mosley and give Margo a boxing clinic.
