they do? you're interrupting; now unless you want me to come round your work tomorrow and hide your broom i suggest you scoot along rather sharpish!!
Calzaghe will be remembered for" 1.Fighting and beating bums his whole career 2.Never facing a REAL threat 3.Never fighting a GREAT fighter in their PRIME 4.Being terrified of Kelly Pavlik & ducking him 5.Being terrifeid of Carl Froch & ducking him 6.Being REALLY TERRIFiED of Chad Dawson & not even have the balls to mention his name 7.Being beaten By a past prime 43-year old Bernard Hopkins 8.Never having a defining fight in his career 9.Being a fraud 10.Being the most OVERRATED OVERHYPED fighter in the history of Boxing
Anyone that mentions Calzaghe right next to "risk" needs to be hanged immediately and from the balls. Put this in your ****ing head, if Lacy and Kessler didn't constantly nag and pack their bags with THEIR BELTS all the way to WALES those fights wouldn't have happened. You ******s question Hopkins?, a guy who unified the WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO Middleweight titles and RJJ who unified Light heavyweight and won titles all the way to Heavyweight yet Calzaghe shouldn't be questioned? As I said, anyone that says Calzaghe took risks needs to be stoned immediately for being an idiot. Being from England gives you a pass for being an idiot, you guys were hyping Hatton as an ATG a while ago, there's no reason for anyone to waste time talking to ******s like that so enjoy the "wonder fantasy land". Funny how Jones Jr. was not "worth the risk!!" when Calzaghe was fighting Tocker Pudwill's ancestors in Wales claiming he is the "champ" yet it made sense to fly all the way to the US with his LINEAL TITLE(not WBOgus) when these guys were beyond shot and old.
Calzaghe threads always somehow have people crying about racism and xenophobia. Racism and xenophobia have nothing to do with Calzaghe's resume not being that strong and the fact that most historians will have him below both RJJ and Hops. And there's no shame in being below those 2 anyway.
Lets not forget Michael Nunn and Antonio Tarver two other quality opponents Calzaghe could've fought!
Calzaghe cleaned out his division and dominated his division for a number of years, unlike Hopkins, he didn't lose to the young blood coming through (Kessler) and he beat Hopkins quite comfortably. When Jones Jr beats Hopkins (like I see happening) - that'll further enforce how good Jones Jr still is and how good Calzaghe was to beat him. 85% of the boxing press had Calzaghe winning the fight. Who gives a **** about Dan Rafael or Kevin Iole? Hopkins simply did not land enough punches nor was he busy enough to beat a fighter who was busy for 12 rounds - that was his own fault, he was more intent on spoiling the fight than trying to win it. He may not be as respected as Jones Jr and Hopkins, but then, he's not a Black American now is he. Wladimir and Vitali are as good as anyone has ever been at HW, they don't even get the same level of respect that Ken Norton has, let alone Mike Tyson/Mohammad Ali.
And lets review the actual history, rather than the revisionist history. 1999-2002 - Calzaghe was mentioning Jones Jr's name as a potential opponent. Jones Jr was quoted as saying he didn't know enough about Calzaghe and the risk was too big vs the reward. After Calzaghe fought and beat Jones Jr, Jones Jr himself said that Calzaghe would have been his biggest challenge in his prime. 2002 - Fight Signed between Hopkins and Calzaghe. Hopkins getting 65% of the proceeds. Hopkins then pulled out of the fight, demanding something stupid like 80% Fight goes ahead later, after Hopkins has beaten up Winky Wright and Antonio Tarver, despite landing the cleanest punches, Hopkins did no where near enough to get the decision and in AMERICA, with AMERICAN judges, Calzaghe gets the decision against him. 1998-2004 - Calzaghe repeatedly called out Ottke, offering to fight him in Germany and at one point, offering to fight him for $1. Ottke never wanted this fight, he knew he wouldn't see the end bell. Late 2000s - Called out Antonio Tarver, Tarver lost to Hopkins so he fought Hopkins instead. And in between all of that? He beat guys like Byron Mitchell, Robin Reid, Omar Sheika, Mkertchian, Veit, Woodhall, Starie - guys who represented the best at 168 during his time. Calzaghe had over half his fights as title fights, never lost a fight, very rarely lost a round, employed an entertaining action paced style of fighting and until he broke his hands, was a big hitting finisher. But don't let fact **** you over - continue with the hatred. If Calzaghe was American, he'd be the best fighter since Marciano. Late 2000s - Was talking about Pavlik as a potential opponent, Pavlik signed to fight Hopkins and got beaten up, left Calzaghe with Dawson (not known, not a big money fight) or Jones Jr (huge money fight) to end his career with. Mid 2000s - Lacy called out Calzaghe, Calzaghe accepted the challenge, Calzaghe was meant to lose the fight by dramatic knock out, he beat the **** out of Lacy in a fight that ruined Lacy's promising career. Late 2000s - Kessler spent a year calling out Calzaghe, again Calzaghe was supposed to lose against the young powerhouse Danish fighter, he again clearly boxed his way to victory, out jabbing Kessler.
