I agree he should have got Warren to chase Jones harder, and I am of the opinion Jones needed a lot of chasing.

It wouldn't have made much difference in the end if he had chased harder. Afterall it's widely known that Hopkins ran like a girl from a fight with Calzaghe that was on the table awaiting his signature, but you still get twats criticising Calzaghe for not fighting Hopkins earlier.

who immediately springs to mind when one thinks of the lhw and smw division over the last decade? dariusz and el slappo!jones won the vacated titles preferring to fight the likes of reggie johnson and the effects of steroid abuse rather than test his superpowers,he did once try though bless him, glenn johnson ,bad move!

when you say before the fight that "you would never lose to a white boy" and all the judges are white... hmmm doesn't take a rocket scientist to put two and two together

this is the bottom line on Calzaghe's legacy: if he was truly great and universally recognised as such, then we would never be arguing the point. the fact that there are such threads and debates is evidence that JC isn't an atg.

Mate, Vegas is where it's at. why would he leave the US. the fact is to prove yourself you must make a career in America. look at Pacman. look at all the mexican and puerto rican greats. Europeans who hide in their own backyards, getting hometown decisions etc. That is why boxing fans hate on them.

So, you expect Calzaghe with no name recognition to go to the states to beat no name fighters, getting paid a pittance to do so?

The reason Calzaghe/Hatton and co spend their early years fighting exclusively in the UK is simple - the UK has the biggest live takes of any country in boxing, they pack themselves out to the rafters for world championship fights.

You only go to America when A: The fighter is American and B: You're both well known.

    Calzaghe did that.

no i expect calzaghe to do what naz and hatton did. come to the states in their primes and take on fighters like barerra, maywether and pacman in their primes. naz and ricky made a killing - they certainly didn't make a "pittance"
