Same as I think now, just ****ing do it. Tyson would probably have taken the tests and battered Spinks worse than he already did. Also, Mayweather isn't Spinks. Even the most one-eyed Pac fans have to concede Mayweather is serious opposition.
Wow...Are you serious??? Whats with all the analogies. Is that the only way you can understand things. Or is that the only way you can get people to understand your LOGIC (OR LACK THEREOF). But I will indulge this crappy-ass analogy. First...1988 was almost 22 years ago. Steriods were not as prevalent and rampant as it is today. Also...Tyson didn't began his Pro Boxing career 40lbs smaller before destroying Heavyweights. So there I replied to your ANALOGY!!! Personally, I don't believe Pacman is using just because he beat Oscar, Hatton and Cotto. Please...THESE STIFF-ASS FIGHTERS!!!
There is no other major sport in the world where one athlete can demand that the rules be changed. An NFL quarterback can't demand that the NFL use random blood testing the week of the Superbowl. So why in the hell should Mayweather be in a position to demand new drug testing measures in his sport. Did I miss something and did he become the Commissioner of boxing?? This is another prime of example of where boxing needs to get it's shyt together and finally come up with a strong, unified governing body that has fair and impartial rules and doesn't allow for fighters to make up their own rules as they go. It's ridiculous if you think about it compared to other sports.
you're right...it's like talking to a teenage child who is convinced that they know the truth when they don't have a clue and completely miss the point...another analogy for you!! you are already convinced of your own pretzel logic and cannot be convinced otherwised...oh well, the truth is pretty obvious if you don't have the pom-poms in full swing.
Boxing is pretty unique in the sense that the rules of the sport allow room for additional terms and conditions so this request by Mayweather isn't much different from catch weights, ring sizes etc. The point about one governing body makes sense, I think their are too many variables in fight negotiations that can give one side an unfair advantage but I don't see drug testing as one of these.
Typical Internet user...When someone disagrees with you...you go straight to INSULTS. BOB ARUM...IS THAT YOU???? All I am saying...ITS NEGOTIATIONS!!!! If the two sides really want a fight...they'll GET IT DONE!!! Instead of everytime there is a "SNAG", one side storms out the room, realease a statement to the press saying: "FIGHTS OFF, WE WANT MALIGNAGGI"...How old is Arum, 12???? Who does that??? Malignaggi for the past year has been calling Pacman every STERIOD USING NAME IN THE BOOK...Yet "they" have NO problems with fighting "FEATHER-FISTED" Malignaggi...Hmmm Wonder Why:think???
Oh...How soon we forget!!! Apparently everyone has forgotten the famous words of Freddie Roach in an interview after the Cotto fight...wait for it....wait for it: "WE WILL NEED MORE TIME THEN THE PROPOSED MARCH 13TH DATE TO PREPARE FOR MAYWEATHER'S STYLE!!!"
From Boxing Writer Vivek Wallace: "There's no other excuse for the inconsistent answers we've seen lately. Bob Arum and Team Pacquiao went from suing a man who they feel made allegations, to setting up a fight with a man who made the allegation first (Malignaggi)." federer has NOTHING to do with weight and is not FIGHTING nadal...to say this is a poor comparison would be a huge understatement...and i bet if it were for 40 mil I can gaurantee he would take the test
in the nfl can they demand they play at catchweights??? maybe this year they bump down the size of minnesotas offensive line ten lbs each
Gee, what a biased closed minded post. Pull your head out of your ass. It takes two to tango. It appears that the Mayweather clan is the killing this fight.
Are you serious? Steroids has been in athletic competition for DECADES. The German swimming team, like Kornelia Ender, where given steroids (endurance based) at an early age of 13 (1971 if you want to check). All of the 1970 and 80s Olympics have been debated to this day on how much of the athletes where under steroids. Baseball steroids where rampant in the 1980s (see Bash Brothers). I don't think you understand steroids history at all. Darryl is right. According to your logic, Spinks had every right to test Tyson for steroids.
You're right! It is called "negotiations", and Pac is willing to budge by taking additional blood tests although he really doesnt have to, including a blood test IMMEDIATELY after the fight. Now who's being unreasonble here? Not Pac! P.S....There's a difference between negotiating and creating new rules!
