Manny's speed, accumulative shots and power are why he knocked out larger men....but you are right you have to consider the opponents he fought as well....Cotto had been stopped before, Hatton was ko'ed by Mayweather, Diaz was a non existant title claimant. His best kayoes and stoppages were over past prime greats but thats not his fault.

 

Not to mention the weakest LW titlist in David Diaz, when Guzman, Marquez, Campbell, Juan Diaz were all after him

Great fighter but if Mayweather is a cherry picker, Pacquiao is too, Cotto and Hatton had been knocked out recently before Pacquaio and both arguably damaged goods

 

At the end of the day this is boxing.....and a fghter at this level will fight a guy who is capable of beating him on any given night....NO MATTER THE STYLE. Of coures a fighter in Mannys or Floyd's position will look for a fight that will be a good style match up...an exciting one or on that offers less risk. OR....all the above in some cases.

But to single PAC out who has CONSTANTLY been fighting opposition at the sports highest levels is petty. You are talking about "styles" that PAC chooses to fight when you completely disreagard the LEVEL of opposition that Floyd faces. THe guys PAC faught and beat may NOT have been all SLICK defensive fighters....but the guys who PAC destroyed FAUGHT AND BEAT Slick defensive figthers.

ANd PAC has been facing men with more natrual, phsycial advantages by moving up in weight and still facing opposition at the divisions highest levels. Would you have honestly wanted PAC to face Berto over Cotto? Or Kendall Holt over Ricky Hatton at the time?atsch Everyone has an opinion and most opinions are emotionally based, so there is always an agenda for people who want to push their point on whoever will listen.

PAC has proven to beat guys with straight up boxing....his natural advantages in talent and athletic ability surely helps....but it also helps Floyd. PAC's style is a great marriage combined with his talent and ability. It makes for an exciting fighter in Manny. Floyd's natrual ability and talent coupled with his amazing skill sets is also a beautiful combination which serves his career well. He is undefeated not b/c he ducks fighters....it's b/c he has all the tools and skills to beat guys who can't handle what he brings to the ring...and the same for PAC.

ANy one can make excuses to "WHY" these guys are doing what they do in the ring to meet their point of view, but it doesn't make it right. Manny and Floyd are great fighters/boxers respectively. And yeah...everyone has their own opinion on what they "SHOULD HAVE DONE" differently. But who are we or who are critics who put their opinions on blast? Surely not anyone who's put blood, sweat and tears into a sport as brutal as boxing.....so while it's fine to have an opinion...it's good to be open to other perspectives and to be receptive to others opinions.

 

Pac is a god (edit: good, not god, lol) fighter, no doubt, but that's what i have been saying for a long time. His fights after 130 have been very carefully selected. He fought guys that were on the slide and that fit hit style.

It's hard to blame Pac for that though (and let's face it Hatton and DLH were BIG $ fights, so he would have been stupid to not fight those guys), but his team have really nursed him along with his last 4 fights. Most of the fights were won before he even stepped into the ring.

He still had some nice wars 130 and under, and even the cherry-picked fights above 130 required him to go in and do his business.

two years ago- had anybody mentioned pac v hatton or cotto or oscar- people would have laughed there arses off and banned the poster!- pre oscar- manny was nt seen how is now- it was seen as oscar pickin on manny.

manny didnt cherry pick- hes the smaller guy moving up- he gets a pass cos he is the guy whos being cherry picked. look at it the other way- who does hatton and cotto choose to fight- mosely? williams? they choose the smaller- lighter- unproven at weight pac man. pac didnt mismatch these guys- they mismatched him.

have you ever heard the term- pick on someone your own size?? manny is beating up guys bigger than he is- he is by far the smallest welter , physically - i have seen in the modern era. his frame is tiny compared to the welters champions of almost any era. and you guys are saying he s cherry picking?!?!?

so are you saying that holt, bradley is better than hatton at the time when pac fought him and are you saying that berto is better than cotto at the time hen pac fought him? also did you consider the demand at the time when pac fought hatton and cotto?

pac is knocking out bigger fighters while floyd is contented on decisioning a bloated lightweight.

people are giving pac credit, but you cannot say he didn't have hand picked opponents...and the "smaller guy" thing isn't going to work (by the way, he has yet to fight a WW at the WW limit).

This arguement can be made for both fighters. They fight who ever is the biggest draw. I think you can do better than this.
