Yeah, this is not even hate... but I think its downhill from here for Pav. The Taylor wins will forever be his peak. I cant see him beating a TOP fighter again..... esp not at 168.

Pavlik weighs-in unofficially tonight at 178 lbs and that spells trouble. I'm not sure what he normally weighs on fight night but if I had to guess he'll soon make the move to 68 where some real sharks reside. Pavlik may have drowned tonight but at 68 he'll get eaten alive.

I predict Kelly Pavlik to be relevant again.

Haven't seen the fight, but does anyone think it was a close fight and that Pavlik has good chance to win in a rematch?

Or Martinez is just in a another class compare to Pavlik?

Taylor was just never that good either.

Taylor and Pav are just prime examples of guys who wouldnt get a sniff at 160 in the era of Jones, prime Hopkins, McCallum, Toney, Eubank, ect

Kelly Pavlik is a robot with arms. He doesn't have one punch Ko power like many thought. I always thought he was overrated a tonight showed. Thanks Sergio Martinez for winning me money tonight. Williams vs Sergio Martinez II, please!

    Don't agree.

As that would be assuming that a boxer could not go back to the drawing board and improve as a fighter.

Now personally, I knew Pavlik wasn't that good anyway so the Martinez fight was no surprise.

Here's the short run of it from my perspective:

Pavlik was making things competitive after Martinez clearly outboxed him in the opening 3-4 rounds. I gave Kelly the middle rounds. Martinez then caught Kelly with a clean hook that opened a cut up in the 9th, I believe, and Pavlik just kind of shut down. No output, basically just trying to protect his eye which he couldn't see out of. Martinez opened up, smelled blood, and dominated the final 4 rounds. A trigger-happy ref could've stopped it with how one-sided it got at times and I think Pavlik's corner should've thrown the towel in.

I had Sergio winning 9-3. I could also see 8-4, but no closer than that.

Pavlik needs to move up as you can tell all the weight he gain for the fight so you know he is struggling to make 160 !!! I think 168 would be good for him because theres not a lot of fighters that is very mobile like Martinez except Ward and Dirrell. I can see Kelly moving up and beating people like Carl Froch, Kessler, and Abraham. I think moving up is the best option for him at this stage because theres really nobody at 160 if you think about it. I dont suggest he fight Martinez again because it would probably be the same result. If I were him I would face Paul just because he is the same height and there fighting styles are coming forward but Paul throws a tons of punches. But other then that I suggest he move up in weight !!!

    Thanks for that summary.

Seems that cut severely affected Pavlik's game made it a rout for Martinez in the last few rounds then.

IMO a rematch would not be crazy to think provided that Pavlik changes trainer and come up with a new game plan.
