Wow...Really? I can't believe I have to explain this OVER & OVER. All I am saying is...Why is everyone so excited and calling this some special and amazing performance when in fact...Although Cotto was winning rounds with his jab, he didn't really start hitting Foreman with BIG TIME power shot until Foreman became IMMOBILE. HE LOOKED GOOD...PLAIN & SIMPLE!!!

Goodness,Foreman had an injury peoples look at his leg-brace.He beat a cripple with no pop.Leading into that fight I believe Yuri had an injury to his knee. And without a doubt it would have been harder to land the left hook to the BOD if Foreman didn't have to hobble around. END OF.

    People are excited because

    1. He was the underdog to everyone from Dwyer (Gambler's Advisory) to Ring magazine, being perceived as unable to find success against the stylistic match-up at 154.

    2. His composition in the ring was disciplined, well-paced, focused, and overall demonstrating a patient smartness that may have diminished recently.

    3. Though he was reserved in this division debut, he was demonstrating the ability to throw well-timed thumping jabs, create effective combinations, and defensively protect himself with proper boxing technique.

    4. His footspeed, movement, and balance were great and more than enough to match a game Yuri Foreman.

It's a shame it ended with an injury the way it did, but Cotto was being reserved as he tested out the waters at 154, and would have probably stopped Yuri as his confidence and damage increased his aggressive assault. The leg wasn't a problem until much later, with barely a round to Foreman's name.

People are excited with nostalgia and optimism because after being destroyed leaving many questions lingering, he's back with a new set of opportunities and beautifully sharpened technique.

He always fought with that leg brace. It's from an injury he sustained in Israel a while back. In the post-fight interview, he said occasional split-second discomfort was the only thing apparent in the training camp leading up to this fight concerning the knee, and it was not expected at all to cause problems.

The injury more was a result of the fall and the subsequent twist, much more than the other way around.

Yuri was bouncing around like he usually does before the fall, and Cotto was winning with superior skills and power, plain and simple. That KO body shot had his GOOD knee buckled with his hurt knee supporting him as he crouched from the blow.

Cory Spinks is easily the worst belt holder at the moment, he is a shot slickster with no punch, I wouldn't be surprised to see Cotto vs Spinks next.
BTW comparing a 30 yr old Cotto to a 39 yr old Mosley is just flawed on so many levels, I wouldn't know where to start, Cotto can still fight in peak forum, Mosley is simply to old to be elite, Cotto is NOT.

So he's lying about when he got the injury and how it wasn't an expected failure?

How'd he manage to bounce around with the leg brace on with Santos and knock him down twice if it was a serious injury before he fell and twisted it?

And so according to you he was limping the six rounds before he slipped, right?

Cotto was beating him to the punch while his footwork was still as good as it always was. It's that simple.

I agree, he wasn't great or amazing BUT he was good, unfortunately we only had 6 full rounds of Cotto-Foreman to go by pre-injury. I do think Cotto was well on his way to a clear UD before the knee gave out. Now had Foreman's knee not gave out and Cotto finished the fight the way he did, I would say he looked great.

Yeah Yeah...I know. Just like everyone said (when Berto canceled) "NO WAY, FLOYD WILL NEVER FIGHT SHANE MOSLEY". Now instead of everyone calling him Shane Mosley...they all say 39 year old Shane Mosley. And isn't this the same Shane Mosley that went to Freddie Roach's gym a BEGGED for a fight with Pacquiao TWICE. But instead Roach decides to fight Cotto at 145lbs (catchweight) and Joshua Clottey. They said NO, Floyd said Yes...And Now he's an Old Shane Mosley. Funny how things change AFTER AN ASS-WHOOPIN!!!

Santos isnt a decent name? Have you ever seen him fight? Are you smart?

I expect you to answer no to all those questions.

:patsch I've been saying Shane was old since he lost to Cotto 3 yrs ago, I said if he can't keep up wit Cotto's speed he won't be able to hang wit Mayweather. its amazing how some will claim Cotto is shot and then turn around and say an old ass Mosley isn't. The very fact that Shane lost to Cotto in the first place IMO suggest he has been past prime for a while.

Good Point. Question...What's next for Cotto. Personally, Going after Margarito, Martinez, Williams next would be a mistake. I'd fight that Martirosian guy that fought on the undercard. He should try to make that fight in Puerto Rico or NYC/MSG just build the Cotto Name/following up again to set up a fight with Williams/Margarito/Martinez...I think he should go after Angulo. I see Cotto beat Angulo pretty easily.
