Tend to agree here. The bottom half of most pound for pound lists is very confused at the moment - You have the welterweights all being ranked off of one another.

Cotto was the original guy up there, and Williams became borderline when he beat Margo. Then you have Margo beating Cotto and being stuck up there (incorrectly, he wore Cotto down and made him quit, but that doesn't make him elite). Margo being put up there meant that Williams was suddenly a necessary fixture, despite getting schooled by Quintana.

To make matters worse, Mosley then destroys Margo, and thus replacing him in the list. Basically people's ranking has been poor. A beating B does not always mean they become a better fighter and should automatically be ranked higher. Styles make fights, and the WW merry go round proves it.

Margo and Williams are not top 10, top 20/15 maybe. Cotto is top 10, as is Mosley. The others are not, despite holding wins over Cotto/each other.

    I disagree.

Williams is worthy of being in the top 10 based on how he avenged his win in destructive fashion against a good opponent. He beat Margarito pre-Cotto, and he is knocking everybody out above 147 even if they arent world class opponents. He is more deserving than Ricky Hatton. He was not schooled by Quintana, he lost a close decision, and then avenged it in 1 round.

I ask myself why Calderon is always outdone by fighters just because they are bigger than he is. He is consistent, undefeated, and is one of the most technically gifted fighters in the world. He is top 5 imo.

    What?

He was supposted to win in destructive fashion in the first fight, and a win over Quintana is no P4P worthy material. So how come losing to Quintana by schoolage and winning the rematch (taking 2 fights which he should have done in half a fight) gives him P4P credentials? :patsch

p4p is not really about resume..it's more who can you beat..how people PERCEIVE you.PW can beat mosley and cotto though he doesnt have good oppositon, he all know that PW is at par with cotto and mosley...same with lopez, he is right there with izzy and rafa..and donaire should not be 6-10 places behind darchinyan.

He was also dropped twice in a draw with Z Gorres and was taken 12 rounds by a fighter with 13 losses in a disgraceful performance against a clearly outclassed opponent.

Donaire dominated Maldonado in very similar fashion to Vic as well.

    The pendulum swings both ways.

Thats because people are willing to fight all the boxers you mentioned above.

Its hard to rack up a good resume when people are running away with their tails tucked between their legs.

    p4p is not about resume..

think about this..in the last 2-3 years...who accomplish more? Hopkins or Calzaghe..
boy, bhop is on a roll beating wright, tarver, pavlik and having to lose a close fight to Jcal. Yet, despite having better resume, Jcal is ahead of him..It is Because p4p is not about resume. It's who who beats who...PERCEPTION of the public. that's why it's subjective.

if you want top 10 best resume for the recent time, then call it top 10 boxers not p4p top 10...

notice how forrest excalates in the p4p rankings. from nobody and then he beats mosley( who is p4p king just bec he beats hoya) its who beats who..

I'm not sold on Calderon. The guy struggled with Cazares and i don't think he moved up to 108 to chase the big fights since he hasn't really done that despite have the chance to do it. Its possible he moved up to 108 cause he couldn't make 105 anymore.

well i won't argue with williams, i have no problem with those placing him from 8-13..it's close..my contention is the 10 position gap between darchinyan and donaire..

and if p4p is based on almost entirely on resume(accomplishment),
you mean to say Jcal accomplishment more than bhop in the last 3 years? because JC is ranked ahead of bhop..please answer this...

it's simple, he beat B-hop, when you're in the same division, P4P doesn't really exist, the person who wins gets ranked higher

honestly, there is no real way to determine who the best fighter p4p is, unless you look at there resume

i can say Juanma is the best figher P4P based off of how he looks right now, but the truth is, it's just opinion, you needs facts to back up that statement, facts as in resume, and his resume does compare with someone like Pac's, so how could he be the best P4P? it's yet to be proven

same with Williams, how can he be the 10th best fighter in all of boxing???? it's yet to be proven...there are fighters more proven then him, so of course you'd rank them higher
