I think most of the people screaming about how this is all hearsay and people are "jumping to conclusions" would be FREAKING OUT if it was Shane who tried to cheat against Margarito. But just because it was their boy who cheated, they feel it shouldn't be that big a deal. "Yeah, I SAID IT. What? What?" Newsflash, talking **** in an environment where you know you'll never be held accounted for your words is a ***** move. Yeah, you said it in the comfort of your home behind a username that hides your identity on a forum where he will never hear it. What a brave and quite obviously mentally handicapped man you are. And another thing; yes, it is possible that this was the first time he tried to cheat. But to put your hands over your ears, eyes and brain and concede the fact that he cheated THIS time, but the notion that he MIGHT have cheated other times is totally absurd is moronic. Again, maybe the Cotto victory was what he'd been fighting for his whole life, he'd FINALLY gotten to the top of the mountain, and in desperation to remain on top they decided to cheat to remain champ. It's entirely possible, but so is the possibility that this wasn't the first time. Accusing someone who's never done anything unjust or illegal is one thing, to catch someone cheating and wonder if this was the first time or the last is perfectly reasonable. My main problem with cheating in this manner is, it's not like they tried to bride a judge or change the scorecards. Tampering with the wraps and gloves like that could have left his opponent seriously injured, in a coma or DEAD. That **** is not a joke, it's serious as can be.
Then he explained why his legacy will be tainted which was all the others fighters that Margo fought will be "wondering" whether or not Margo cheated in his fight against them. Stewart didn't definitively state that Margo cheated in his other fights, just that the fact that their would always be questions whether he did that will have tainted his legacy.
manny is just telling it like it is, it's just funny that he batters Cotto (who's one tough opponent) like he was Bobby Collins and then Mosleys trainer says take that off then he goes and gets knocked the **** out by Mosley? like manny said, "coincidence?"
What evidence in your home, behind your username anonymity, do you have to state that Antonio Margarito in fact tried to cheat, and the original handwrapping that was ordered to be redone, was intentionally made to take unfair advantage in the fight? :think Having none and still accusing isn't a ***** move in your book?
Im with Manny Steward in this. I was ready to crown Margarito as a hall of famer prior to his fight with Mosley. But, then he gets caught cheating and this puts a black cloud over his whole career.
What they seem to "know" is the same thing as everyone else does - which is all based on ACCUSATIONS made by MOSLEY'S camp. No proof of ANYTHING has surfaced other than that accusations were made and hand-wraps taken for analysis. At this point, it is out and out IRRESPONSIBLE to make presumptions, particularly for boxing commentators. And it is even MORE irresponsible to say that it discredits his victories in OTHER rights, when there is aboslutely NO evidence whatsoever that this occurred. I wonder if the HBO shills are doing this to pump life back into the tattered rep of their former poster boy, Miguel Cotto, hmm????:huh:yep
All I see is silly keyboard warriors jumping on a TV comment that hasn't been prooved YET by any officials or the commission. Biased commentators can tell the truth too, as well as the biased opposite camp, and if Margarito is guilty, no way in hell he should get away with that! But as of this point, no official statement or decision was made by the commission, beause they are still investigating. So all these (possibly true) accusations are based on speculations. So these posters' 'truth' worth as much as the guy's on your avatar, knowing absolutely nothing what's going on behind the curtains. Typical forum BS. But my problem is: a well respected, HOF trainer shouldn't jump on the boat BEFORE any official statement.
First off, I'm not trying to act play the role of "messageboard thug" by screaming "that's right, I said **** YOU" when you know the recipient is nowhere to be seen and can't her you. The effects of saying **** YOU are kind of lost when the person you're saying it to can't ****ing hear you. Does that make sense to you? How about this....how could someone wrapping a hand like a cast NOT possibly effect the fight? Having a functioning brain that helps me come to rational conclusions as complicated as: "Hand hard, hurt more when punch" is not me reading into things, it's thinking like a fully developed, adult human. I'm sure the commission confiscated NOTHING from Margarito's dressing room. They took big bags of RUMORS with them to analyze in two different labs. The boxing commission is investigating it right now. It's on ESPN, man. This isn't urban myth, it's not something a few posters read on a forum.
It's marginally acceptable for guys on ESB to state their opinions before the commission reports on this matter, but for a guy who's as professionally entreanched in the sport as Stewart, to throw it around before the report's available is irresponsible.
That's my whole point! If it's investigating and hasn't come out with a "guilty" or "not guilty" decision, why do you state "guity" by accusing him of trying to cheat? But I couldn't care less... but why Steward is stating "guilty"?
