Re. EA Sports MMA CAF - Yes...damn the UFC for protecting its licences. This is completely unheard of...that's why all players and clubs allowed Pro Evo to use their real names and likenesses even though EA Sports was paying them a fortune for exclusive use.

 

There CAFs though, you could make players with their real names in Pro Ev. Its a totally different kettle of fish.

Bizarre. The UFC Undisputed games do the same thing, even having nicknames such as 'The Last Emperor' and 'The Demolition Man' available to select.

That's pretty pissy.

Though I can understand their anger with EA MMA. This isn't a Zuffa thing owning anything, it's the fact that they made the UFC game first (and to be honest, have been the only one doing it for years) and they got a little pissy about EA deciding to start it up. I don't think they'd be bothered had it been another company, but EA are very much the type of publisher that'll pick up on what's popular and just fleece it for as much money as they can get.

I can understand that side, but at the same time, it really is just a game, and UFC don't necessarily own MMA nor is EA MMA doing anything UFC Undisputed is doing.

That said, I would play UFC Undisputed over EA MMA anyway, purely for the reason that EA MMA looks silly and the animations are really poor. UFC definitely has many issues, but I still prefer it, and expect some major improvement in the next game. However, it is Yukes who are making it and they take ages to redevelop their games.

 

You guys need to look at who's publishing the game, piece-of-genetic-**** EA. At one point Dana White approached EA for a game deal and EA thumbed their noses at White, so White went with THQ. If you want to play with UFC fighters then don't play an EA MMA game.

 

just got this game today, i noticed the name thing. i knew right away the reason for this, as i had played wwe games with the same deal.

btw. can tell me how the hell im suppose to block body punches !!

 

White went to the wrong department of EA, the part which develops 'The Sims'. Needless to say they were not impressed.

Although the striking is not quite there, EA MMA is much closer to the real thing IMO. Mote technical and sim-like than the arcade button masher Undisputed is.

Hence why THQ is taking a year off. The EA game bombed, but no doubt they realised they need to make improvements (IMO)

 

Hole R1 and R2 together (I think) intend to stay out of the way of them as they sap your energy, and I'm much more if a lay n'pray guy on the game, my guy is a one dimensional wrestler

 

Maybe they were angry that the game was just plain better than either Undisputed title?
