Then why's he fighting. He should retire.
I don't rank the dude at all. He's a non entity. The years he was gone were some of the finest years in ww history. Sure he's fighting Pac now and that's good but let's get this clear, all the glory goes to Pac, even if he loses. Even if Mayweather wins he's still the dude who ducked his division when it was at its hottest. Mayweather's only got uphill to go and it's his fault.

Seriously enough with this drained ****. His fight against De Le hoya was at the weight De Le Hoya set and was that weight bad for him, probably but come on. Hatton was lineal champ for 140 when Pac fought him and undefeated at that weight so it was the clear choice to fight him there rather then 147 where he had already been beat. And Cotto having to lose the 2 pounds, 2 problems with that first being Cotto almost always comes into weigh ins at 146 so it was only 1 pound and 2 Cotto said the weight didn't matter he would be at 155 on fight night whether weigh in was 145 or 146, well he came in at 155.

Seriously what is all this crap about weight drained. Cotto looked amazing the first round and looked great the first 4-5 rounds not counting the knockdowns. After that the hits were taking their toll no **** he didn't look as good in the later rounds.

I'm too, that's why I ask. Pac clearly can belong with Morales, Barerra and JMM. But if you put Pac and PBF, I don't think we can pick another 2. I think time will tell who will belong on the pieces to the WW puzzle of the current era.

    1. There is no Fab4 in this decade. The Fab4 of the 80s is sui generis.

    2. Pac didn't clean the welterweight division. He didn't clean the mess for Mayweather.

That would have been the case if Pac had beat Cotto, Mosley and Clottey or Margarito. Actually, Pac has beat Cotto. The rest of his wins, De la Hoya and Hatton, are wins that PBF also did. What is great is that Pacman comes from the lower divisions, but it's a mistake to say he has cleaned 147 for Mayweather.

Mayweather is a monster in head to head hypothetical bouts. And is the most complete boxer out there, by a mile. But I'm with eliqueiros and piffer. When you say he fought people like Baldomir who was top of the division at the time... come on. There were and have always been far more dangerous guys that he should have proved himself against but didn't.

I also don't know for sure that he could/would have beaten Cotto. Maybe now, with the mileage. But definitely not before Margarito had his way with him. If Cotto fights Mayweather after May knocked Hatton out, that's a close fight if you ask me.

I am with you. People forget that Floyd has only fought TWO small guys in his ENTIRE career. Remember that Judah was undisputed champ but lost a few straps to Baldomir then Floyd beat both to become undefeated and undisputed champ of the WELTERWEIGHT division.

Hearns fought leonard twice, hagler and duran once
Hagler fought hearns once, leonard, and duran
Duran fought hearns, leonard twice, and hagler
Leonard fought hearns twice, duran twice and hagler

PBF hasnt fought any of the major competitors of his division (talking 147)

If PBF and pacquiao fight, it will only be the very beginning of what could potentially be something to compare to the fab 4, and still you would have to get them to fight two others which will not happen.

    Not a good analogy
