Jesus titty****ing Christ. :scaredas: Didn't see any threads on WEC 38 from this past Sunday, given all the post-fight buzz on Fedor/Arlovski and continued hype for Pierre-Penn II. Guess it got lost in the shuffle, but it's a shame because it was an explosive event. Given how game he was in the first one, I'm shocked Jens was handled so easily here. Was that just a perfect gut-shot or is he himself now shot? :think Jose Aldo looked fierce on the same card. Faber-Aldo at some point? Soon? :deal
So nobody watched WEC 38 yet everyone's got something to say about Fedor and Bob Arum? And here I thought I was supposed to be the resident 'casual fan'.
I watched the replay last night. Jens looked like he just woke up when he got into the ring. That was a hell of a body shot, the funny thing was Mir saying at first that Jens was baiting him in.
Pulver just can't let go anymore. He won't get reckless anymore and go for things unless he's desperate. He used to set the tempo, now he just reacts to what his opponent does - works with somebody like Cub Swanson, but not against a Faber or Penn. The level of competition he's been losing to is a part of it also. He's money, so he gets big matchups... and he's not the fighter anymore who can beat the best guys. He's become a stepping stone now.
He gave Faber hell the first time out! A lot seems to have changed in two fights. I agree he looked a little tentative here but he took major risks in the decision loss.
He was usually behind the eight ball in that fight; working off what Faber was doing or hinting at. Pulver also benefitted from the fact that Faber came into that first fight a little tentative, unlike anytime before.
Where do they go from here? Pulver has stated he fully intends to go back to the drawing board and fight on. Should he just call it a career? What are his feasible options for strengthening his legacy? As far as Faber, how many credible challengers are floating around at featherweigh? Will he have to move up to get big fights? How about a match-up with Aldo? He's way behind Urijah in all-around skillset and experience but dangerous as hell.
Was it a good card? I haven't been able to see it yet as we don't get WEC on TV in the UK and I haven't had time to look on the internet.
Faber is an animal and Pulver was on the recieving end of a champion coming back to get his belt one fight at a time. Pulver isn't shot, the shot was perfect like the BHOP shot to ODH or the Machida to Tito. Perfect shot by a better fighter sums it up. Pulver gets beat by top notch guys, he might be a stepping stone but it's still above a gate keeper.
Nah, he got his ass beat. Faber had him so close to stopped when he was hammering fisting Pulvers face as Pulver held on to Faber's leg for dear life.
The first few fights featured some good, quick action! :good The replay was from 11-1 and I had to go to bed about midnight...fortunately (well, not as a Jens fan but as a tired guy) Faber-Pulver II was mercifully short, and that's really all I stayed up for. Didn't catch the lightweight main event between Varner and Cerrone. :conf
I love Pulver and this is a bad situation to be in hes 2 small for 155 and now at 145 hes lost 3 straight it would take alot for him to ever get another title shot.
Yes, but when Faber was hammer facing him, he def was close to being stopping. I mean Pulver can pull out of that but it was like when Clay Guida hit Roger Huerta, he almost lost the fight there but showed amazing resolve.
