Leonardo Benatar is backstage interviewing Elías Leandro Vallejos, who looks very confident and is flanked by some trashy-looking but nonetheless comely blondes.

Apparently the main event will be the first/perhaps only fight shown on the broadcast, coming up next after this commercial break.

Scratch that, actually. They were just flashing the graphic before going to break for no reason, I guess. o_O

Romero walks out to Nirvana's In Bloom, and Ayala to Pantera's I'm Broken.

Damn...think I'm calling the ring entrances a draw, and the fight itself has a LOT to live up to!

NACR has a pretty sizable and rabid following for a 6-0 guy.

 I love the polite golf clap the Buenos Aires faithful give to Ayala.

    Round 1

Lots of body hooking in both directions. A few head bumps. Romero complaining, but they're incidental, just a product of both guys walking in at the same time winging big hooks downstairs and not watching their noggins. A bit of clinching down the stretch, with Ayala desperately trying to work an uppercut into the bottom of Romero's chin but only getting a piece of his inner armpit in the course of a prolonged tug-of-war tussle on the ropes.

10-9 Romero, slight edge, not much happened other than both landing a roughly even number of body hooks.

    Round 2

Romero and Ayala both getting warned for dropping their horns in and leading with them. Both nod to acknowledge the ref's instructions but go right back to billygoating when he calls time in. He's getting frustrated with both of them. Next infraction might be a deduction for whichever unlucky soul it happens to be. They settle in and start to circle on the center ring logo at mid-range, taking long stabs at the belly with down-sloping jabs from the chest. Romero kicks his lead foot out to the vanguard and performs a deep knee lunge and tries whacking Ayala on the sides. Ayala shuffles into the ropes. Romero dives at him with a flurry of flapping chicken wings on the ribs. They scrabble into a clinch. Break. Another clinch, flipping each other one at a time, each taking a turn with his back on the ropes.

    Ugly shit.

10-9 Romero, again, I guess, little in this. (and less in the way of recognizably clean - let alone aesthetically pleasing - work)

    20-18 Romero
