Maidana is jabbing and looking for a weakness he can exploit, getting a bit frantic and overwrought, tipping his proverbial hand as he skitters to either side anxiously, then jogs in place after each attempt to peck through Parra's shell. Parra remains cold as ice, slipping a Maidana 1-2 and countering him with an unseen hook emerging from the waist-high bog to score and then submerging once more. Parra is poking the body with jabs sauntering in, then hedgehogs smoothly outside as Maidana is stabbing overhead with both hands.

Round 10

Maidana is loading up now with big home run swing hooks, missing from a distance. Maidana holds both arms outstretched, hoping to kebab Parra into the ropes. Parra does a good job of ducking and weaving under Maidana's arms, pelting his mid section with both of his own fists and then grabbing him to spin free and reset. Maidana is looking to score a KO, no doubt about it. BIG right hand lead from outside by Maidana, falling in clumsily and straightening one leg shakily to regain his balance. Parra lurches against the ropes as Maidana comes hurtling at him with some late dramatics, two BIG uppercuts, missing with both hands as Parra counters with his own uppercuts buoyed off the ropes.

10-9 Parra, close, although Maidana will probably get the round from aggression-loving judges.

The commentators on Fox Sports in Argentina had it 98.5-96 for Parra, giving Maidana shares of the 1st, 4th & 10th rounds (but all 10-9.5)

All three judges are in fact not only Argentinian nationals but residents of Buenos Aires...on a card promoted by Fabián's brother.

I guess we know at least one country where visitors don't have to worry about getting a fair shake.

 

You nailed your description of Parra. On paper that was the correct game plan for Maidana, but he just couldn't handle the awkwardness. He was too "in his own head", it seemed, and couldn't move past the fact that Parra was doing things none of his sparring partners or past opponents ever had.

 

Parra just put the cherry on top of a nice 10-0-0-1 (9) streak! Props to my fellow 36 year old!
